Went for a 'nature walk' today, down the riverside (river Wear). We used to live a couple of hundred yards away but it has been many years and the place is now unrecognisable in the main, very much overgrown.

The Victoria viaduct, rail traffic for the use of, long disused now.

My next door neighbour threw himself off the middle of it.
Looks like someone else has too.

We were promised lower temperatures, stiff breeze and some thunder, lightening and rain, none of which was in evidence, just a lot of hot heat.

Is the river tidal or is the water level low due to the lack of rain ?

Good to see the bridge won't get stolen; not with all those padlocks on it!

Tidal down here. Got caught with that at the Tyne last week too, thought I was further inland than the tide affected (Jarrow) :( should have known better.

The streams that run through the parks here are practically dry, normally plenty of water in them.
One, that runs through the Princess Anne Park, which is in a valley, has previously filled the valley and overflowed into adjacent housing estates, farms and roads. Not often, fortunately.
That stream and most of the others feed into the Wear.

They all have 🧡s and initials on them, some silliness started in France, I believe. Fitting for a French Car Forum
