Luckily I was a few rooms/doors away from it when it went off Jim otherwise it might have been a bit more obvious what the hell the noise was, I imagine a similar senario to that, even at 50 psi the tube would escape from the weakend sidewall if I were to attempt to re-use that tyre!CitroJim wrote: 04 Aug 2026, 04:36 Gosh! Not had it happen to me but I've seen an inner tube slowly escape from a crack and expand up like a huge balloon before going bang!
Cheers PaulC5 I've heard good things about the Marathon tyres but I shall try to obtain a similar Vandorm Wind (26" puncture resistant) which were proving to be hardwearing - the only downside seemed to be getting them mounted initially without wrecking the inner tube, requires extreme force and traditional metal tyre levers and they also squeel a bit if cornering with too much enthusiasm.PaulC5 wrote: 04 Aug 2026, 12:10 Choosing new tyres is not easy with there being many to pick from.
