17 litre car tank.
500ml/45 litres x17 = 189ml.
As I've already treated my new bottle of Adblue, this will be a flight overdose of the stuff, but am sure it'll be fine![]()

Wonder if somebody has put the wrong stuff in, eolys springs to mind. Ablue is mostly water so clear but if the water evaporates it leaves white crystals. A 17 litre adblue tank contaminated with eolys could take some emptying and cleaning.
A search suggests eolys is less dense than water at 0.89 so might float on top and being a hydrocarbon is not likely to be water soluble. If you have a narrow tube you can insert, suck a bit out from the bottom of the tank and separately a bit from the top and see if there is a difference.

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Yep, exactly my sinking feeling!
Yep, think that's just what's happened in that long spout jug over that last (guess) 3-6 months since last used. The residual dregs have dried out and grown an impressive crystal formation.Ablue is mostly water so clear but if the water evaporates it leaves white crystals.
The jug opening is too narrow to get hands in, spout is concertina type tubing so plenty remains when emptied. Think I'll swish out with water after each use going forward.

Yep, definitely a task that one!A 17 litre adblue tank contaminated with eolys could take some emptying and cleaning.
(Edit: was missing an Open Quotes, so fixed it)

No, no issues. I don't use a phone to access the forum though. I do lose the broadband connection a few times a day but have a backup gizmo that connects the router to 4G, when it works. That often has a red 'not connected to 4G' light on it lately.Huskyxantia wrote: Yesterday, 19:45 Anyone else having issues with the site 3 times now ive been kicked out and had to re log back in
Not kicked off though, just doesn't do anything until reconnected.

Yep, that's do, though'd compromise flavours come next Sunday lunchtime
I've some little syphon pump things and some washer hose (nice clear stuff) so can rig something up, I'm sure.
The Qashqai is still here (and indeed still yet to be paid for my written off car) so will use that tomorrow and avoid mixing the Adblue tank contents. Hopefully ~24 hours settling will help the red stuff come to the top. Keeping drawing that off could even prove more effective than trying to clean the tank out.
About 1.5 US quarts (as that's what the jug measures in

I have been logged out a few times last half hour but it seems to have stopped now.
Hope this is not a sign of the previous owner not knowing what they were doing when looking after the car. It also possibly means the eoyls tank is empty and a low level warning was diagnosed out after putting it in the adblue tank

I'll try and get stuff drawn out the tank tomorrow, will try and have a Diagbox session maybe Tuesday night, see if it's reporting a not long since replenished Eolys system. Will check differential pressures on the DPF itself too as it'll be clogging up if Eolys tank actually is running dry, I guess??

Thanks for the thoughts, folks!
I'll try and have a look through the service history see if I can spot any suspect fluids being bought

Mick has been rather quiet tonight, maybe he's on a kicking session because he's got nothing else to build or repair.....

Au contrare, I've been wrestling with the garden hosereel which SWMBO keeps having the feed hose pop off the reel inlet. I have loads of hose connectors of all sorts but nothing that fits that reel inlet which has very worn shoulders so not gripping connector properly. In the end I settled for ordering a new reel complete tonight which is due on Tuesday!! Maybe write something in the DIY thread then!!Rp0thejester wrote: Yesterday, 22:04 Mick has been rather quiet tonight, maybe he's on a kicking session because he's got nothing else to build or repair.....

That Adblue looks a bit worrying Matt. It should be clear even if a little overdosed with Wynns CC. In my experience an overdose just make it foam up like a rabid bear...
Those crystal growth are impressive. No worries if they are outside the tank... My van had a few impressive ones in the filler area when I fist got the car
Definitely empty the tank and refill...
Tipping a can of Adblue into the fuel filler would not end well I fear!

All over the boot floor little flat crystals. Spare tyre has white marks. Will all come out for a wash / wipe down shortly. Those crystal growth are impressive. No worries if they are outside the tank... My van had a few impressive ones in the filler area when I fist got the car
Reminds me, notable absence??

AgreedDefinitely empty the tank and refill...
Checked the service history: specific mention of Adblue top up years ago (2018) and lots of unspecific "topped up all fluids" on service sheets since then, so "who dun it!?" remains unknown.
Yes, I remember mention on here of that happening to a lorry and tens of thousands of damage done!Tipping a can of Adblue into the fuel filler would not end well I fear!
