plastic trim clips

Post by johnmowcop »

Hello

Help please. 206cc external door trim (like a rubbing strip on the outside). I cannot find teh correct clips for sale. They need to fit into 8mm holes in the door. The two lots I have bought that are suppsoedly for this job will not go into the holes.

Regards

These might well do the job. I had to replace the trim on my first Xantia, and I got these from Citroen.

I looked for the stock code Citroen 8565 35, after checking on my copy of docbackup.

Those look like internal trim clips James. I think the OP wants external door trim fixings.

They ARE for the external trim, Marc. I had to use several to clip on an exterior trim on the driver door of my first Xantia. I still have a few left over. If you look on docbackup, Xantia II, page 09/03/10 0291 07 8411 01 you will see that item 3 (Door protector) is held in place by item 70, hog ring, with the part number I posted.

I have found that, on e-bay, the part 8565 35 shows up against several vehicles, including the 206. Here is another example;

I always prefer to check the correct parts wherever possible James then it is up to the OP to seek an alternative if preferred. It saves time.

I do agree, Marc. It was several years ago I had to get those 'hog rings', and I had to use several on the rubbing strip to hold it in place, but they did the job very well (despite looking so small and flimsy). I got mine from Citroen, Reading (when they existed).

John, when you come to fit the strip have the door open when you do so, and clip the end nearest the hinges into place first. That way you should not have any issues with it fouling the front wing and rubbing strip trim (you can guess how I learned this!).

John, the clips you need (26 on the diagram) are not sold separately by Peugeot it would seem. They do however sell the complete door fixings kit shown as item 30.
The kit is Peugeot Part Number: 6999 FE and costs £23.69 Ex VAT or £28.43 Inc. VAT from any Peugeot dealer.

Trust the French to have a part that they use on most cars in their range, and a different part for one model! Sods!

I should add, that having looked up the part numbers on the link that James supplied (8565 35), these are not listed as clips for the door trim for your specific 206 as per your VIN. They are listed on a different 206 model but are for tailgate and bumper trim, so as you have already tried alternatives before, this could be why they don't fit! It's another reason to check the correct part numbers, otherwise you could end up wasting money and the hassle of returns.

OK, I just tried something that MAY have helped. I initially looked up the part for a C3 Pluriel, door section, and got the part number 856540. I then did a search on e-bay under that part number, and MAY have found a match. John, you will need to go through the compatibility section in the ebay page to make sure, but they do look (to my eye, at least) similar to the part shown on the page posted by Marc;

Gents

What can I say but thank you for taking the trouble to help.

James, I have bought the ones you have found on ebay already, they are for a 10mm hole, I think, whereas the ones I want need to fit a 8mm hole.

At the week end I will visit a shop that sells this type of thing to the trade to see what they have to offer.

Most helpful of you both, again thank you
