That does not look like the ones I got for my Xantia 2. I managed to get a pair a couple of years ago from Citroen, for under £10 the pair.

OK, I plead Guilty, and the harm done is too late to correct. But before you sentence me to whatever punishment, I'd like to DECLARE my intention was to say thank you using HellRazor's real name, a personal touch, AND I'd like to get off Scott Free, AND offer extenuating circumstances:
Whilst scanning the little bio box on the left of the forum post, I saw the name Simon, that's all - nothing else. I moved fast. I has a lot on my mind.. one thing dependent upon another. I wasn't wearing my reading glasses either, coz my hands were all greased up... but why the rush? I was working outside, just stepped in to make the order, and was aware of short daylight hours and cold, my children also needed feeding, and a helper was waiting outside for me, an∂ the baking potatoes were in the wood stove, and might have got all burned up, plus who knows it might rain. The xantia lies pointing skyward in a community car park, with rope round the offside hub, and a bugger of a lower swivel joint to return to, 'to have another go'. The Citroen needed to get back to the MOT station so I could drive away down to Kent and assist my traumatised mother, who has just faced limb amputation and is in a respite home c/of Community health Services, who want to stop her going back to her own home and have her sell it up.... against her wishes.

Plus I'll tell you a story:
Well I got it off. A 3 1/2 foot 1/2" breaker bar with proper removal tool nice and snug (plus gas previously applied, no heat, peening removed) wouldn't shift it., even with feet against the hub and back against the wheel go a large van. A Giant Stilsons couldn't get clearance to grip with hub on. But before removing the hub, as one additional measure, I smacked a cold chisel against the cutaways on the joint a few times in two different places. Then the brute shifted easily with the socket and bar. For the first time in two years I cried out with joy for as much as five seconds, which also delighted my helper.

Hopefully that bored you all to death, if not, I am permitted to make a last request.... and that will take a very along time:
E.g. I 'm ready to go now. I don't need a priest, unless they drive a Xantia (not because I;m a scientific materialist though).....

Didn't bore me 'to death'. In fact i laughed out loud as i know how you feel. The vino helped a little ... no, a lot. But hey, nearly everyone on here has abused the name of Simon or James at some time so i, for one, forgive you my son. You are cleansed of any sin [emoji3]

I am glad it made people laugh. I need some aspirin for my headache, and a builder to re-build that brick wall I banged my head against! :D

James, You have my sympathy - which probably won't help. So, I consulted with the nurse in my family, and she assures me a wet flannel works as well as aspirin for a head ache - its not advertised because its not patented yet. Should see you comfortable in less than a minute.
As for the wall, stick a port hole window in it - very fashionable!

John,
Brilliantly funny and worth the read.
But having experienced the same problems in the past my method was remove hub carrier, stick in vice apply heat carefully, secure joint removal socket with nut to joint and apply steady pressure through breaker bar 6' scaffolding bar and liberal amounts of penetrating fluid.
