Lexia Software - Access Violation

I'm posting this to help anybody who has bought a lexia, but when they run the software they get blocked by the following error message from windows:-

Access violation at address 400089C8 in module VCL50.PBL'.Read of address D4102603

I got this message with my new Lexia and I investigated this on the internet (http://www.tlemcen-electronic.com/forum ... hp?t=12837). This is a french forum but I managed to get the gist of it via google translate, and it turns out the error is caused by a VIRUS. I virus checked the DVD that came with my Lexia from Ebay and it was infected.

To get the Lexia to safely install it is possible to do it by avoiding running the infected .exe file so VIRUS CHECK YOUR INSTALLATION DISKS BEFORE INSTALLING ANYTHING, COPY THE INFECTED FILES TO A FOLDER, CLEAN THEM UP USING YOUR VIRUS CHECKER, AND ONLY RUN THE CLEANED COPIES.

It was the key generating program (keygen) that was infected on my machine.

You should do it as a STANDARD practice with any ebay/china/unknown software install.

Also.....CHECK the cheap (Main manufactures) oil you have just purchased on EBay as well, Russia is shipping loads of counterfeit oils via the Eastern countries into the EU.
Keep a little known to be good oil and do a colour/viscosity check with two clean glasses before you use it.

This is interesting.

My Lexia had an infected program which was all loaded up. When I put AVG anti virus on it, AVG removed the infection and Lexia then refused to work! So the answer is to keep a hard drive with just Lexia on it so not worried about viruses. Most laptops have no problems with swapping the hard drive over but I have found my HP Pavilion G6 throws its toys from the pram and sulks until it gets it's own hard drive back!

And folks wonder why I am such a great fan of the 4lb hammer?

The file isn't a virus. AVG amongst others picks it up as one though...
