Plumbing a sphere tester

Post by Old-Guy »

I've saved the HP pump, the pressure regulator and various bits of pipe from the VSX with the intention of building my own sphere tester. I've found a picture of Jim's rig, but need to get clear in my mind how to arrange the plumbing as I can't quite see where all the pipes go.

Pump connections:
  • Inlet pipe (clear PVC) into top of Tank
PAS outlet (large) back to top of Tank (avoids recirculating any air)
Suspension outlet to Pressure Regulator (as originally connected and using original pipe; it's over-long but simply leave it as is rather than have new end swaged)
Pressure Regulator (mounts sphere under test):
  • Pump inlet as above
Regulated output to Gauge (salvaged pipe brazed into fitting for gauge)
Pressure relief pipe in clear PVC back to top of of Tank.
Am I right in thinking the VSX pressure regulator [5274 19] is higher pressure than 'ordinary' ones [e.g. 5274 17]?
