Picasso 2.0 HDI SX fault code P0903

Post by craig hudson »

I hade a code come up a few weeks ago for a clutch issue, I replaced the clutch which turned out to be the thrust bearing. I have since coincidentaly got a new clutch issue. The car has a severe lack of power (limp home mode) and the engine management light is on, the code reads as P0903 which is clutch actuator switch high fault.
A few questions if anyone could answer them please?

1 Where can I buy a clutch actuator from, searched everywhere online with no luck so far.
2 Will this fault go away once i fit the new switch in terms of engine running.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Are you sure that this fault is not left over from before, when the clutch failed. Picasso doesn't have a clutch actuator as far as I know, have you checked things around where you had the box out, maybe something has become dislodged, maf sensor ?

I believe there's a switch on the clutch pedal on that model, could that be faulty or disconnected?

service.citroen does show a switch on the clutch pedal on these (clipped onto the LH side of the pedal bracket, and possobly acting down on the rear of the pedal):

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT
00002127C7 CONTACT SWITCH 18.35 GBP 22.02 GBP
0000218920 SWITCH CLUTCH 13.48 GBP 16.18 GBP

The first one is for 2.0 HDi cars up to RP 9876 (23/11/03) the second one for 2.0 HDi cars after. Given that it is throwing a fault code, suggests that it is more than a simple make/break swtich - but you might be able to fool the ECU into thinking it is there / working by shorting the wires out if you can figure out how it is supposed to work. I think changing it will take the engine out of limp mode (if there is nothing else wrong!) but the EML may need a few starts to go out as it will be showing a permanent fault in the memory.

Thanks for the response all. I have since found a fault in the Crank shaft sensor, the magnet is chipped at the top. I will call Citroen today and order that switch and fit that at the same time as the new sensor.

Thanks
