Hi

There have been quite a few postings on this subject - try out the search facility.
Mine is a 97 19TD with 140K on the clock. I reckon to get 500+ miles from the 65l tank on a mixture of A road and heavy traffic commuting 60 miles a day. That's somewhere around 40 mpg.

Current 97 TD, 119K Miles about 550 to 60L
Previous 93 TX, 215K Miles about 500 to 60L
But then again maybe the introduction of penalty points and the dropping of speed limits in Ireland has something to do with the difference [:D]

My commute is 70 miles per day and I get 600 miles from a tank usually (until the light comes on) using 60 ish litres. That works out roughly as 45mpg.
I have had better economy from this car in the past, 48mpg was the norm, I've got a corroded wheel rim and a tyre that goes soft...

Same as Phil, about 500+ miles,40mpg average, though i have seen 600+ driving very gently.Mine did the same mpg before i had it boosted to 115bhp.I dont know how acurate the gauge is though,as i can get 130 miles with the light on.Handbook says the light comes on with aprox 7 litres of fuel left.I might get a few cans of fuel & just run it till it runs out to see.

I travelled to Liverpool and halfway back to Medway 550 miles on a full tank before the light came on, mostly motorway

My record is 672 miles, but then put in something like 67 litres. Not bad for a 65 litre tank!

Dont ask how,but i`ve managed to get 71 litres in once.Cost an arm & a leg [:0].Maybe the tank is 65 ltrs, with a 7 ltr reserve, when the light comes on.
Must have been running on fumes on that occasion![:D]

If you want to get 78 litres (my record) into your tank, there is a small black button just below and to the left of the filler neck, hold it in whilst you are filling up and you will fit another 10 or more litres in,
Its there to stop you overfilling your tank by releasing an air pocket from the bottom of the tank when you put your fuel cap back on (the thread presses it in all the time the cap is on) thereby leaving about 10 litres of air space on top of the tank, this allows for expansion on a hot day, so dont go filling it up using the button method if your not about to a decent amount of miles otherwise you will either waste some fuel due to expansion or you'll blow your car up if some passer by is smoking !!

i hardly hit the 450 per fulltank (or 37-38 mpg), thats after changing oil+oil filter+air filter+tyres are inflated, i do 2 journies per day, 5 miles each. shopping in the weekend about 20 miles in total with abit of traffic, speed is 30-45mph, i have to say i am realy disappointed.[:(]

Modi, for the type of driving you are doing, 450 miles per tank is pretty good, your engine will rarely be getting fully warmed up so i dont think you could do any better,
99.9% of my miles are steady motorway cruising with no sudden acceleration or braking (if i can avoid it), on the odd occasion where i drive round towns i see my consumption shoot up

If I'm honest my BX TD can drop to 35 MPG if I only do short runs - as sometimes happens especially in winter. The plus side is I only fill it up every 6 weeks or so. If I had a petrol car I'd probably be getting 15 - 20 even from a 1600 and I'd have to be careful not to boot it to get that.

Thanks Mosser for your note, anyway I only fill it once every 4 weeks, thats the good side...
