1983 Bx 16TRS 17k miles in red looking for a new home!?

Post by andmcit »

Fuelling the Xm up and a guy in a Berlingo asks if I want another Citroen!

It's red with stupidly low mileage and is solid everywhere that matters. It will probably need the brakes
and possibly hydraulic pipe work looking at and although both rear 3/4 windows are opaque, there is one
new spare with it. It runs although has no legality and it hasn't for a while!

Bumpers have gone pink but paintwork is still bright and fresh.

He wants to see it go to a Cit enthusiast home and isn't looking for big money. One Bx 16v is enough for me
really although I am quite tempted in a totally irrational way...

Gut feeling tells me it very much needs rescuing but I'm just not sure! If it had been a GSA I would've
bitten his arm off for the keys! lol It turns out I already know it as it lives 5 minutes walk from me and
I always thought it a good'un.

A Citroen heirloom or old box of bits!? Is the early 16TRS a desirable model? Guess it's the one from the
"loves driving, hates garages" ad!

I have no idea either what it means, even so a 83 BX (first year of UK importation) is a great find, I have two Mk1's already but I know a few of the BX Club would give there spare kidney to get one of these if its affordable!

What does 'priapic' mean .... first time in over 50 years i've seen the word :), to think i may never have seen it without joining this forum, big praise indeed Jim
I know what it means but a car forum is the last place I'd expect to see the word.

But then again.......
Citroenless at the moment. CX or GS that is my dilemma!

Damn...knew i should've waited around for a bettter one

Come on then photos!! lol..

When was it last on the road then? Does it have power steering or not? I read a review of an 83 french one that didnt. Has it been garaged then? hmm this will have the earlier interior then, i do so miss it; though the cloth was prone to wearing crappily..and the seat foam prone to collapsing..

Just curious. I really dont have room (or patience) for another.

Definately save it. Has to be. They're great (except when they break). Though i supposed i am biased. What does eveyone else think? Save or..
