Couldnt help myself... Another Activa

Unread post by wurlycorner »

...walked away once...

A week later, I went back #-o :oops: :rofl2:

Image
Lacquer peel all over

But not a smidge of rust;
Image
How's this for shagged brakes?;
ImageImageImage
At least this side still has the backing plate;
Image
Minor weep, nothing too serious, all spheres look recent.
Image

Full leather, small hole in the driver's side, rest of it is in great condition though;
ImageImage
Nice looking radiator repair :lol:
Image(not leaking from here though - maybe because it's pissing out elsewhere so badly that it never builds up enough pressure :lol: )

Pair of Activa together :hug:

As far as I can tell, everything works. It even does things I didn't know my other Activa was meant to do (becuause it never has done it...) Like the passenger wing mirror dipping automatically when reverse is selected.

I don't know what I am going to do with it. I told myself I was buying it to use comparison on my black one and then as a spares source but... It all works so well and I like the colour and they are now a rare breed so... 8-[

I already have plenty of those :roll: #-o

Haven't even finished the first one, which needs nothing more than driveshaft gator (horrible job on a Xantia), suspension properly setting up, couple of tyres, ABs sensor and centre exhaust section in order to pass MOT.
(It does then also need the timing rechecking, to see if that's the cause of the hesitation/minor mis-fire)

Having just done an Activa inner CV boot I must agree absolutely and totally :twisted:

Incidentally...
This one takes minutes before the suspension starts to react (rise). After switch off, it stays up for a decent length of time (don't know how long but more than 12hours) then the front drops, but the rear stays up.
Likely cause being??? Front anti-sink sphere? Or..?
(My knowledge on hydractive 2 has gone very rusty :oops: )

Flat spheres and possibly a knackered pump most likely Iain ;)

How long is the regulator tick interval once all is settled down?

There is no front anti-sink sphere but there is an Activa accumulator under the battery tray that goes flat/ruptures and causes lots of fun... It looks like an anti-sink sphere and that may be where the confusion comes in...

Being hidden, it tends to be forgotten about and ignored...

Ta

I thought the pump may be knackered. Impossible to hear the regulator cut in/out frequency, on account of the thing running with no exhaust :rofl2:
Once up though, it drives fine without the steering going heavy, which suggested to me that the pump and accumulator were fine, but something in the front suspension may just be leaking by causing it to take ages to fill initially???

I'm unlikely to spend much time on investigating it any time soon tbh, but am curious to understand what/why...

Glad to see its still in one piece.(for now!) I had made enquiries about it but got caught by my partner. She told me 5 Xanitae is quite enough and if another one turned up I would be looking for somewhere else to sleep ! The shell looks in good condition. Although it might require a lot TLC to make it roadworthy.

I find Activa's hard to walk away from, i'm on my 3rd , i walked away for 6 years but i could just not resist having one again.

I like that colour green, and looks like it has the Winter Pack too which is a bonus (EDIT: Just noticed its has no heated seat controls so just electric leather) . The good news is if you want to replace the Citroen and Xantia badges on the back that have the silver faded on them they are available still from Citroen and only cost around £14.

I know.... I've had three and whilst I'm now Activa-less after owning them continuously for ten years I never completely rule out another...

I must be in a minority preferring my lowly 1.9td poverty model to the activa. I never really bonded with the activa, despite it being a good one.
