Re: C5 X7 RT4 - Fitting Factory Amplifier
Well it's like this. I went to the dealer, they paired the amp with the car, now there is no comm error. I've connected all the speakers to the amp, but, no sound...
So, the CAN comm is ok, the amp has power, it turns on, the speakers are connected, what am I doing wrong?
In diagbox, before I connected the speakers, i had faults on amp, each speaker had an open circuit error. The only speaker that is not connected to the amp is the rear subwoofer.

Re: C5 X7 RT4 - Fitting Factory Amplifier
I would get the sub woofer connected as well. It would not surprise me if the system (upon running a diagnostics on start up and finding a component missing) dropped into a 'safe' mode in order to protect itself from damage. Remember, these systems are now highly integrated, and 'expect' to find everything in place.

Have you made the necessary wiring modifications to the speaker wires / speaker end connections? You know these HiFi speakers have different connections than the standard speakers, and I know this requires some modification.Fortius wrote: ↑06 Mar 2020, 12:04 Well it's like this. Re: C5 X7 RT4 - Fitting Factory Amplifier
@ Hell Razor5543. I thought about it but unfortunately I don't have the subwoofer. I have an aftermarket subwoofer that I could try to connect...
@ GiveMeABreak. I have connected each speaker individually since I was trying to check if the system works. I have some experience with car audio modifications, and instalations... aftermarket. I've done quite a few.. However, I never did an OEM upgrade like this.
Also... there are outputs for the subwoofer:
1. Connector B, Pin 6 & 12 - rear left bass acoustic enclosure +/-
2. Connector C, Pin 6 & 14 - rear right bass acoustic enclosure +/-
As far as I know, this system came with only 1 subwoofer.
I can try to connect my subwoofer and see if something changes, but where do i connect it, considering there are 2 outputs?

No change. I've connected the subwoofer using connector C and still no sound. Have no idea right now what to do next.

Re: C5 X7 RT4 - Fitting Factory Amplifier
I think the OEM rear enclosure for the woofer in the boot had 4 connections, a left and right sub woofer inside the acoustic enclosure. Each then having a positive and negative. So you’ll no doubt need to connect those up. I assumed you had the full OEM speakers.....illustrated on the diagram pin out connections.

Re: C5 X7 RT4 - Fitting Factory Amplifier
Ok! It's done! I've connected my subwoofer to one of the 2 subwoofer outputs and another woofer to the other one, just to test it! Everything works! I will search te web to find an OEM sub and I will start to put everyhing into place..
Quick question: does anybody knows the polarity of the Philips Woofers of this system? There is nothing written on any of them, except the tweeters.
Thank you for all your help so far, and for all of you out there, crazy as me... I'm living proof, that this upgrade can be done, with patience and help from kind people!
When I finish everything, I will post photos!

Re: C5 X7 RT4 - Fitting Factory Amplifier
Well done!
As for the woofer connections - on the electrical diagram (link below) a few posts ago, all the PIN 1 speaker connections are the positive + connections. On the speakers themselves, look at the connector sockets - they should be numbered 1, 2, etc., that corresponds to the electrical diagram pin numbers.
viewtopic.php?p=636761#p636761
As you can see on the tweeter the pin numbers are marked - but I can't see the socket of the larger speakers from your photo as it is at the wrong angle, but they should be marked either inside the socket or outside somewhere.

Re: C5 X7 RT4 - Fitting Factory Amplifier
The woofers are not marked... I have used a 9V battery and I've found out the speaker polarity. Positive is on the left side of the connector, on the back of the speaker.
The issue that I'm confronting with now is where to put the amp. I have removed the glove box but i don't see any space for it...

It's in the glovebox - shown below - although not very clear. The glove box needs removing to remove the amp normally.

Re: C5 X7 RT4 - Fitting Factory Amplifier
I know it should be somewhere behind the glove box.. but I didn't find any place to put it, after I removed the glove box. So far... the only idea that i have is to put it into the glove box.. a bit weird..but... I don't see another option..

Is there another picture with it's position? A more detailed one? Thanks!

Re: C5 X7 RT4 - Fitting Factory Amplifier
No other info - but I think it is actually mounted on the inside - as if you look carefully at the picture above, you can see what I think is the air conditioning rotary outlet control (the white circular object). The bracket below fits over the rotary control so you can still open or close the A/C vent for the cooled glovebox.
On the parts diagram below, you can see item 20 shows the mounting bracket for the amp -
It is part number: 657908 and costs (UK) £11.06, including our VAT at 20% from Citroen - so not that expensive if you need the originally designed fixing bracket.

Re: C5 X7 RT4 - Fitting Factory Amplifier
Ok, now that the installation is complete, I can share my first thoughs with you guys...
I'm dissapointed.... The overall sound is...cheap, to put it simple. My car now has the sound of a cheap radio...
The tweeters are not making a lot of noise and the door speakers have a lot of mid frequencies. The bass is ... is something..
The sound experience is not what I was expecting...
If there would be a chance to access the amp, and if it would have an equalizer function, maybe things would be different, but right now I've lost precious time and gained...nothing wow... and in any case, not an HIFI system, in my humble opinion...
