Remember the thread we had on the FCF where nostalgic stuff and memories had a home....yes rapidly disappearing into its own obscurity itself. Not a single reminisce since December 2023. Small bit of gardening from me to refresh the ground to facilitate new growth this spring...

The subject which came to mind on the back of the delightfully named "Climbing Tree Farm" which made an appearance on the "One for the railway Buffs Thread" this very day.

Climbing Trees. Probably after football one of the single most pleasurable activities of childhood.

Let's try Television...Back in the 60's up here we had channel 5 and Channel 8, and two magazines to cater for what was actually on those channels. You will be familiar with the Radio Times...for the establishment British Broadcasting Corporation. We were pretty special up here, in common with those North of the Border we had our own magazine for the upstart service Tyne Tees Television known as the "Viewer". In other parts of the country the more ubiquitous TV Times in regional editions, covered the Independent TV output. The ITA subsequently made the all the regional ITV companies form a single jointly-owned company, Independent Television Publications Limited (ITP), to publish TVTimes – with regional editions for each area. The new magazine started in September 1968.

As a wee lad we only had BBC on our telly and as a result we used to go to our next door neighbour's on Saturday afternoon to watch Cannonball!! I loved that series and it may have been a catalyst in my interest in trucking and then motoring. Bear in mind we never had a car and the first one in our family was my elder sister who bought her first car when she was 20 and I was 14. That was in World Cup year so a good 7 or 8 years after going next door!!

A quest. Bring to the thread an original photo of a piece of Meccano

On a slight morse code tangent at some time or other I thought I had some sort of electrical set with a morse code tapper thing, mistakenly thinking it was part of a meccano set and was led to this....

...which led on to this, what a joy to see that green tin, the spanner and the screwdriver again, first time in decades!

I am pleased to say that after some passage of time, this long forgotten challenge was met today in Berwick-Upon-Tweed.

A very decent entertainment for the nostalgia buff is this available on UKTV play.

Just watched the first one in the series headline feature an 80's Atari, but they are not just one subject episodes, and they also rummage around various Aladdin's caves of old audio TV and gaming electro items. These clocks caught my eye...described as Vitascope Ship Clocks made in the Isle of Man.

Not the most animated of videos but at least it shows you what one looks like. The ship "rocks" and the backdrop changes from day to night.

Took a picture of a vintage lawn roller today. Not an "ironcrete" as previously featured on the Trivia investigation thread ( link) but if google and bing are any use as search engines, this will be now, the only photograph or piece of information on the world wide web about this particular incarnation of the lawn roller.
