C1383 - Fault: brake fluid level information

Post by PUG405 »

I have a 2013 DS4 which went in to another garage to have the slave cylinder on the gearbox changed as it was leaking. No lights on the dash prior to this. After it was done, the service light, ESP light, Stop light and Auto Brake off light are all on the dash. The only fault is in the ABS module and is C1383. This fault will clear but will reappear as soon as you cycle the key. Obviously I've checked, the top bottle is full as is the reservoir on the master cylinder. I have a 12v + and - at the level switch and I have tried a second switch also, no good. Any ideas welcome 😵‍💫

Maybe a different brake fluid has been used. You could try a 2000 ohm resistor across the level sensor connector to check this https://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/index ... lt.126224/

Fault C1383 means the Brake Fluid Sensor has a fault - specifically open circuit.

So it'll be one of the following:
  • Brake fluid level sensor
  • Electrical harness
  • Connectors
