I note the handbook wallet has a specific pocket (empty) that seems just the right size for one of those Key PIN scratchcards I had with the Xantias and assumed mine had gone missing....
I asked my local dealer if they would be kind enough to give me my key code without having to order the physical scratchcard and was told they no longer provide those cards anymore. (To compound the problem, they're also under instruction to insist the owner presents the actual vehicle and not accept other proof of ownership such as logbook, driving licencse etc), which was not possible as the car was SORN at the time).
Then, among the pages of the handbook I found a piece of thin white plastic with two barcodes and what look like serial numbers separated by perforations - could these be what I'm looking for? I don't want to post a photo for obvious reasons but I'm hoping an X7 forum member will know what I'm trying to describe?

I don’t recognise what you are describing there Mike. My X7 had the grey key card, but nothing else.

I don't think the dealers ever gave you an actual card, they just provided the code...…….for a fee, usually about £15.00 but as said they want to see the car or at least the V5c to prove ownership.

Re: X7 Key security code
According to the handbook, something (I can't recall exact wording) that needed to be kept safe was also attached to the key(s). Do you have that, Marc?
The reason I'm asking is that below each of these barcodes is a very long alphanumeric. The top one perhaps being the unique key/doorlock/ignition code?
The second one below is just as long but begins with C and is then padded with "0"s until the very last four (ie C00000000000000000X6PV) of which just happens to be the security code format I've come to know.
Probably just coincidence, but ever hopeful thought I'd ask.

Re: X7 Key security code
I only ever had my grey card like this:
But is this the sort of thing you are referring to?
The last 4 digits of the bottom label would indeed appear to be the security code and the top one likely to be the key code for cutting a new blade.
(Note the last picture was from the web, so no link to any actual vehicle).

Mine was loose in the handbook and I didn't give it a second thought at the time.
I had to replace the original key case (needs the blade cut now) and thought I should try to source a complete case with inner circuit board next so I can have the peace of mind of a spare.

Re: X7 Key security code
Mine was like yours , the top one, but in another discussion on the subject I suggested looking through any books/documents that came with the car because former owners often had the code scribbled down on a note tucked away in the paperwork.

Re: X7 Key security code
Our old Xsara had both card and strips and they're exactly as described.
Neither my X7 nor my wife's 308 came with any codes so just three weeks ago I ordered them from our local dealer. Only the V5c was needed although we took our passports with us just in case. They rustled up the codes while we waited, a little bit longer than normal, they apologised, as there was a problem with the servers in France.
The codes haven't been £15 for a long time! It was £20 for the old C5 some ten years ago and £30 each this time.

Re: X7 Key security code
Confident I do have the code to program keys, I've taken a punt on a cheap ebay chinese clone remote fob. If it works I just need to find someone to cut the blade.

Re: X7 Key security code
Diagbox confirmed the code is correct as the new fob arrived today so I now have two fully working remotes/keys.

Well done Mike. It might be useful for future reference if you could pop a link up to the seller, given we have so many that buy these, only to find they are substandard, poor quality or simply the wrong type.

Re: X7 Key security code
The link's out of reach at the moment, Marc. Will post later.
Despite some sellers (mis*)advising to be sure they should "look" exactly the same, it's crucial to match the blade/transponder/RF types (and obviously buttons).
*The new fob is completely different inside (pcb layout, fitment and battery/placement) and only the blade and spring mechanism would be interchangeable with my original.
It was a lot trickier finding the correct "repair" case for the original to be honest - and even then it came with the wrong blade.
Thankfully, blades aren't made of soluble candy like the rest of the "OEM" X7 fob.

Re: X7 Key security code
As requested, here's the fob I bought. A local locksmith came down and cut the blade for me.
