The PRV was offered also in the XM as the flagship top end engine, heavily revised from earlier PRV engines it also had Even firing order and featured a Balance Shaft on the front bank neatly disguised under a slight taller front Valve Cover.
The PRV was perhaps coming to the end of its life being a 1970s design, but rather robust, using chain drive cam shafts and for the balance shaft too. Mounted transverse for the first time in the XM with a distributer on the end of the front bank. Electronic ignition was used for the Spark and timing.
