Warning light

Post by espzetec »

as previously posted:
I get an orange warning light come up on the right hand panel in my 1993 1.9td Xantia.
it comes on sometimes under hard acceleration in 2nd gear. On further inspection it looks like a tall thn tank with 2 pipes coming out at the top.
the bottom half is the tank, which is black, so i presume this means some liquid level is low?
Any clues as its not in the handbook?

Hi, if its on the right hand side warning panel, top right hand corner, it is your low washer bottle fluid level warning light.

Bit of tubing on the draincock at the bottom of the filter and unscrew to let some watery diesel out. Recharge filter and voila!

Maybe a good time to change your fuel filter too

Are you running biodiesel or veg oil? I had problems with some badly processed biodiesel. There was quite a lot of oil left that pooled in the fuel filter. Everything was fine apart from the filter light coming on.

You may well find there's a diesel and some other oil seperated out in your fuel filter. That would cause this sort of problem. Stick a tube on it and drain some out in a jam jar and see what it's like. If it's clearly seperated then the way to fix it is to take the top off, syringe the oil out and then stop using the dodgy supplier until they get their act together.

If it is same as Peugeot the oil light is red and filter is orange (nearer amber).
