alternator belt

right, im still having problems with mine. as previouslyu mentioned above, mine was too tight, now the alternator bearings have gone again. the belt did STOP on the weekend somehow? the battery light came on and i lost power steering. would this affect the brakes also? the belt then started again? whats going on?

Very strange for the belt to stop without breakage. Check the crankshaft pulley is tight. Normally there would be a squeal and/or a breakage if the belt worked loose. As for alternator bearings, I had a problem up in the Scottish islands with an alternator bearing. My workshop was up there then and I turned a wooden bearing on the lathe which got me home to Glasgow and then bought a bearing to fit at a BSL branch. The alternator lasted another couple of years.
