2.0 hdi only does 70mph

Post by axl »

I just bought a 2l HDI(van), and it only does 70-75mph in top, and about 60mph in 4th.Doesn't have much go either, and engine temp is a steady 70degrees
I haven't had a chance to change filters or do anything to it yet
Any idea what might be wrong?

it's a hdi 110 peugeot expert, same as citroen dispatch, 2001
engine diagnosis light was on all the time, but I don't know what it is for
No rev counter, but didn't seem to want to go over 75, but OK up to there
It had to be jump started cos the battery was flat

If the engine management light is on all the time, there's probably a sensor sending wrong information to the ECU. Time for it to have the memory read.

If its a HDI 2.0 110, it can be chipped with outstanding results. Search on here for info about chipping. Be sure to read everything posted here and search all links.

You'll find that most repair garages will have the facility to code read these days, try ringing around.
