Hi, you're not going to believe this[:0], I booked my pug on Tue at the dealer then went shopping and when I came back home and as I was locking the door with the key the central locking system came back on[:)] Oh to hear that sound when the central locking opens and unlocks was sweet music to my ears, and the boot also opens now, now does this mean something is lose somewhere or something is about to go? and should I go to the Dealer on Tue? and if I do what should I tell him? just to check and report or what?

First think is fill it up with fuel in case it happens again before you find the fault.
It could mean something is lose or a motor is on the way out.
You can take it into the dealer for them to test & report on the central locking system.
Make sure you give them the full events of what has happened with it too.

Hi, I took my Car in today and one of the mechanic's came out to look at it and didn't really do anything, he said it could be the ECC Control box which controls everything cost about £275.00 [:0] just for the part, or it could be the boot lock acuator which he showed me where it was, I explained everything to him that I could open all the other doors manually but not the boot, he said then it's probably the boot lock, he said as it's working now leave it as it is untill it happens again and then he can pip-point the fault because now would be just guessing, so fingers crossed, touch wood I hope it stays trouble free.

Hi, was he right in that it controls everything?? do you have to take out the glove box to replace it? and is it something you can do yourself? because I can take out the glovebox it's held by 2 plastic pins.

Hi
Its behind the dash, level with the glove box, taken the glovebox door off doesnt help you reaching the central locking control box.
You need to remove the 2 metal clips that hold the carpet trim under the glovebox, Dont lose or break these 2 clips because Peugeot / Citroen no longer stock them & they have been on back order for several months.
Now if you can lie down with your head under the opening you will see a large white plastic bracket held in with 3 x screws.
Mounted on this bracket are the Central locking control box, the Heater control box ( Has Bitron stamped on it ) & if you have ABS fitted there should be a red plug & a yellow plug clipped to the bracket to.
Both black control boxes have 2 x screws holding them to the bracket, They are a real pain to get to as well.

Hi, I guess this is a no go area, if a seasoned expert like you says it a pain to get to then what chance have we mere mortals got? [:D] seriously I guess it's best left alone rather then going in there and making a complete mess of it, thanks again for your valuable advice, you don't mind if I now and then keep bugging you for any advice? [:)]

Hi
Yes, its a right pain getting at those control boxes on a 405, The 406 has an access flap in the glove box for this very reason.
I very much doubt that the control box is your problem anyway, Keep an eye on it & see what happens.
As long as you dont bug me with 405 ABS problems Ill answer any 405 related questions, lol
Even the Peugeot dealer gave up on fixing my ABS, I had to ring Bosch to get the right answers, lol
The next question im expecting is I think going to be alarm related [:D] lol

Hi
Well thats one less thing to worry about going wrong then.
The 405 electrics are alright if you look after them, Its the odd & strange faults that start to happen if you dont that drives you mad, lol
