i was looking through a machine mart catalogue and found this:

Its similar to the one I have, and very efficient at shifting spheres it is too!!!
I bought mine from a local spares shop for about nine quid, and it was packaged as a "franklin" tool- the same people who do the cheap diesel locking sets and BX balljoint socket.Any half decent motor factor should have them.

Why focus on a steel chain strap tool ?
A lenght of old safety belt making up the same type of sling tool does in fact work much better, as a steel chain tend to slip on steel surfaces.

i made one for a couple of quid, a lenght of 10mm threaded bar bent around a old sphere .

I made mine purely from scrapbox parts. The Machine MArt one has too short a handle, and would probably be damaged if you put a piece of pipe on it for more leverage. IMHO, not better than welding bits of metal together [:(]

First time I removed a sphere I used a chain wrench that I borrowed off my Dad, with an 18 inch long handle made of inch solid round bar. It took that and the "universal extension handle" to shift the pair of front spheres...
I think that Machine Mart tool is a little underengineered.
