Lexia3 is confusing to buy

Yep
Easydiagnostics was a reliable vendor for diagbox back in the day - inexpensive, reliable clones that worked, software updates available and provided good support to help you get it all working.
As Gibbo says, seems to have grown the business now, to provide a lot more (and no longer sells the PSA clones, but own kit).

Thanks for your replies. I didn’t get any notifications of replies, so I apologise for my late response. (I’ll have to see what setting I missed for why I didn’t get any notifications.)

If 7.02 talks happily with your newest vehicle, I would stick with that. You can go to 7.62, but not later.

I haven’t tried my setup with the 3008 yet. It’s my wife’s car and I’m not sure if she trusts me enough to let me loose with that!

You can but you shouldn't (unless you need it for another vehicle).

Up to v7.62, each new version either added support for more vehicles or fixed bugs in the software. After 7.6.2 new models were supported but there were no significant bug fixes for older vehicles, and the operation of Diagbox in stand-alone mode was restricted so that some telecoding operations which were previously possible are now only possible when logged into the PSA servers (with a paid subscription).

XXExplanation for DIAGBOX 7.xx
The original DIAGBOX 7.xx ended with the update 7.65 - the last 3 updates were faulty.
Since there was no activation code (patch) for the successor Diagbox 8.xx, parts of DB 8 were transferred to DB 7 and activated with the patch of DB 7 and continued until 7.83 - this roughly corresponded to Diagbox 8 up to update 8.19.
In all further updates of DB 8.xx to 8.55 only changes were made in the APP area (old LEXIA) not in the AWROOT area (DIAGBOX) - therefore not usable for newer models.
And the firmware was not continued, but frozen.

Only MrRorry managed to activate it again (patch) with 9.23. This was followed by 9.68, which was then stolen and distributed as a VM.
From 9.25 onwards, PSA not only changed the newer software (Diagbox), but also LEXIA/PLANET from 16 to 32 bit, so that 9.xxx can be installed on all 64 bit systems.

There are now countless variants of DB 9.xxx. Only a few correspond to the original software, but are often incomplete.
The native installation 9.216 is currently available.

I was able to understand that Lexia3 is a hardware, a cable device itself that is.
And I understand these are clones of original PSA diagnostic device.

But this device has something about versions V9.91 and V7.83 and then lite vs full gold board something.
Then something about rev B, rev C.

What is this all about ?

I don't even know how to explain it as there are no clear explanations out there to show what I should be looking for if I want the best possible clone that will work with my Peugeot 307.

I am unable to buy in UK at the moment so my only options are eBay or Aliexpress, does any of these listings have what I am looking for ?

Buy lexia3 full chip from aliexpress. They are very well made and no wories. Installation will be your biggest issue especialy if you are not familar with virtual machines and drivers, etc....

In this helps anyone - in the end I bought this Lexia3 kit - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006971895315.html - the 'Full Chip LED Plus' option (it had a slight discount when I got it). It works fine on my C3 A51. It came with 2 DVDs, I installed DiagBox 7.57, which according to the supplier (ReDiag Store, Store no.: 1103742660) is supposed to be the most stable version. No VM was needed - it worked fine on my Windows 10 32 bit set up, after following the instructions in the video in the DVD. My only worry was that a virus was detected and I was instructed to turn the anti-virus off. I turned of the network and after installing there seemed to be no viruses on the machine. Anyway, as I said, it seems to work fine as far as I can see so far.

From this seller, at the time the discount (for me) on the 'full chip led plus' meant it was discounted to be cheaper than the others options on that link I shared.
If you mean other sellers, please share links (it was cheaper for me than the links that OP @peug307 shared).
I was looking for ones with 'full chip', i.e. pics with all components on the board. It was a leap of faith, as it always is for me when purchasing on alibaba, but my point is that it worked out for me with this seller.

I'm on this particular thread because I think that Lexia is confusing to buy. I certainly didn't pick up earlier on your point about the 'full chip'. I did notice it in some listings and not in others on AliExpress earlier.

I agree with you about purchases being a leap of faith when purchasing from AliExpress (or Temu), or even EBay, if it involves a supplier based in China.

I purchased my setup second hand from an Aussiefrogger who said he had no further use for it. Windoze PC running Win7, but designed for Vista, from the era of Stephenson's Rocket, with Diagbox/PP2000 (v7.52) installed and a Lexia setup. If I hadn't been in the right place at the right time to purchase that, I would be on here looking for as much help as everyone else is. I'm still utterly confused with it all.
