You can also read what Zeljko Nastasic from the BX DIY home page has to say about various injection pumps:

Check under heading injection pumps towars the bottom of the page.

Zeljko Nastasic seems to think that the Bosch pump is the better pump.
My Dad has a Tractor and JCB which both have Lucas / Roto Diesel pumps. The tractor is an old 'F' reg (black number plates with F at right hand end) the pump doesn't look very different from the Roto Diesel pump being used 30 years later.

I'd buy the seal. Changing the pump and injectors and timing it all in when I could change a seal suggests a lot of unnecessary work to me!

I'd check for any play in the shaft first, if there is any it should be detectable even with the belt still in place, grab the pulley and yank on it, if you can feel any play it will almost certainly be out of tolerance, then swat the Bosch on, no point in having spares and not using them, but be aware that the internals of the pump can and will rust if not stored under the right conditions.

[:)]Success[:)]
No play in shaft so I replaced the seal.
If it leaks again then I'll transfer to Bosch system.
While I had the pump out I took the opportunity to swap my 50a alternator for a 80a pug405 item.[:)]
Even with the d/pump out of the way it was still a squeeze to get the old one out[}:)][}:)]
Now for the serious stuff
