My one i had several years back was sold to a chap from wales , he came all the way down with a trailor pulled by a range rover . I made back all my costs what i spent on the car plus a little profit too, the bottom pulleys on these engines are another design issue which fail , but not to hard a job to change. Nice car it was & great to drive.
Tbh im not sure, it was a nice car, the new owner wanted it for spares ! But his wife was with him and said it was much better than the one they had . Ive never checked the reg to see if its still alive , shame if it did get stripped in my ownership it had new tires, cambelt kit full service all new fluids, and a damn good wash inside and out. I do miss the car,
Husky. Thinking outside of the box is better than sitting in a dark one.
We have been doing a little work on this, not getting quite as much done as we would have liked because of storm Bert. It took 4 trips to euro car parts to eventually get the correct crank pulley which has now been fitted making the engine much quieter. Aidan located the lhm leak and it was the hydraulic pump which has also been replaced and now no longer leaks. He reckons that the last half dozen serpentine belts have been chewed up by contamination judging by the ammount of gunge in the area.
He is hoping to change the clutch this week, he will have a look to see if the dmf is any good but doubts it but it will have to stay as after a protracted search including chevronics there are no new ones available anywhere, so it will be a quick 3 part clutch change.
He is also not convinced that the brakes have been assembled correctly, the hand brake will not adjust in the usual way, so they will be inspected.
Interestingly he also needed to order brake pads for his xantia 16v 2lt petrol and has come across the same problem as the dmf, GSF will have some on tuesday but it was a mission to find them.
Nobody is stocking spares for these older cars.
It also looks as though my 1989 Audi 200 quatro turbo avant is permanently off the road because there are no replacement parts for the brake master cylinder, virtually ready for its mot but no brakes.
Is there a plan afoot to by hook or by crook get ALL old cars off the road by stopping manufacture of spares?
As there has been some good discussion in this thread, and as topics in the sale/want forum get automatically deleted, I have moved it to the blogs forum. It can be renamed if desired..
We both thought that the drivers seat had collapsed foam in it so we swapped the leather seats out of the 1.9 but upon removal of the seats from W884 there was found to be a big hole in the floor where the seat bolts into. Somebody in the last 13 ownerships knew about this and left it. Again back to the 1.9, cut out the pristine mount and weld it into 884, rust proof and paint it, replace all smelly filthy carpets with pristine 1.9 ones and hey presto, full leather, electric and heated although not fully wired in yet.
Can't help but feel that my drivers seat was slightly damaged in the accident so am on the lookout for an exclusive drivers seat, I can always take my leather covers off and put it back on the new seat. I would also like a mk2 hdi steering wheel as mine has lots of wear
Anybody in possession of the above would be grateful for a response regarding price and location.
