Re: Was this car originally one of the members here? Xantia 110 HDi W884 UAN
Sam showed me all the spares. It was one thing that put me off a bit as I’d have had to break that to SWMBO and it would not have gone down well.
She wants me to be thinning out the number of cars.
So a mate of mine is on holiday until 26th so I would have been able to use his garage to transfer parts and the like but I still did not fancy that at the moment.
Besides there is 5-10cm of snow forecast for Tuesday so the north of the country will grind to a halt although we might miss it here in Nottingham all being well.
The underside is superb largely. One rubber plug sealing the end of one sill needs replacing and there are a few small bubbles on the sills but you will catch early.
I was more thinking about your penchant for a low mileage example would mean you might get rid quick.
Then again 180000 miles is low mileage.
I cannot believe he simply gave up on the car.

From similar but not the same 406:
2.0 HDi 90 = no DMF, HDi 110 = DMF
And 2.2 HDi 136 = always a DMF (though I am not sure the Xantia was treated to the 2.2??)

I could swear my HDi only had a typical clutch installed when it was done. It didn’t cost hundreds of pounds.
I got someone to put it in at my mate’s garage after hours one day. Charged me £100.

110 HDi is a pull-clutch not a Dual-Mass
£100 would be a bargain

You might well be correct it's not unusual for PSA to do two similar vehicles differently! The number of unique to a certain vehicle variants boggles my mind! Eg BE3/6 only ever used in the 306 gti6. Didn't 1.6 (TU engine) petrol Picasso's get a unique BE gearbox - only TU not to use the MA gearbox?? Am sure there's many more!Rhothgar wrote: 17 Nov 2024, 10:55 I could swear my HDi only had a typical clutch installed when it was done. It didn’t cost hundreds of pounds.

That was fit only price. I was told that it would be a 7 hour job as a scheduled job.
I think he did it in an hour from memory. He used to work as a Citroen mechanic. I just relish 7 hours myself which as we all know would have been 10+ hours...

An hour! Flipping heck! I'd think I'd done well if had got it done over a full weekend!Rhothgar wrote: 17 Nov 2024, 13:13 I think he did it in an hour from memory. He used to work as a Citroen mechanic. I just relish 7 hours myself which as we all know would have been 10+ hours...

Yeah. That's my true speed but 10+ hours sounded better. I didn't want to come across as a right incompetent buffoon.MattBLancs wrote: 17 Nov 2024, 13:59An hour! Flipping heck! 3 weeks for me I think by the time I’d diagnosed it and fixed a couple of damaged split rubber pipes in the processRhothgar wrote: 17 Nov 2024, 14:09

Call it "a hobby" and doesn't matter how low my it takes, that's my approach!
Oh yes, the "fix it while I'm there additional jobs" would likely grow the task four fold too, I'd not factored those in!

My one i had several years back was sold to a chap from wales , he came all the way down with a trailor pulled by a range rover . I made back all my costs what i spent on the car plus a little profit too, the bottom pulleys on these engines are another design issue which fail , but not to hard a job to change. Nice car it was & great to drive.
Husky.
Thinking outside of the box is better than sitting in a dark one.
