That's amazing!! You've written out my thought process almost exactly bobins! The only difference is that I've still ended up with the Lancia Beta Spyder for the reason I posted before :-D

If anyone is interested in their choice here are most of the prices gained at the sale:

My choice is still available but well out of my reach!! :-D

Quite a few unsold in that auction, especially 1970s and earlier cars. Most of the sales tend to tilt towards 1980s onwards vehicles. A few 'bargains' to be had though.

Indeed it has Eric... And what some of those sold for it makes the 16 grand buy-it-now price for the 205 GTi look almost reasonable.

It has been a while since we had an auction to dip into but I am posting this one because I will be at Thruxton for the weekend so I will probably go and look through these for real! You will need to scroll through the memorabililia first, although you are at liberty to select a lot from there if you prefer, before you get to a varied selection of bikes and cars. I reserve the right to not make my choice until I have walked round!! :-D

Do enjoy Thruxton Mick :D

I have happy memories of racing an excellent duathlon there a few years ago...

As for the car, a total an utter no-brainer for me

But you knew that anyway, you know me too well ;)

I'll always go for the 1.6 over the 1.9...

The Daimler Double-Six convertible looks very interesting.... but no.
The Mercedes Pagoda would be gorgeous to own, but it loses out to.....
not the Iso Revolting Rivolta Lele - which I'd love as you're unlikely to find another one.....
but first place goes to the Marcos Mantula - I remember seeing one at (I think) Sandown Park kit car show back in the day and thinking everything about it was perfect - including th weather on the day and the music he had playing on the car stereo :)

Before I get to Thruxton's offerings on Saturday I need to pick one from this list. Jim's choice will be obvious to all, but after that I can't say there is any particular car that might get me enthusiastic! However I will pick something and post it in a bit!! :-D

I considered the Scorpio but in the end I would pick this one, mainly because of the colour and registration number!! :-D
