Re: C5 X7 Radio aerial
So according to the diagram, the rubber attached aerial on the roof has GPS functionality also. Its disappearance didn’t appear to be compromised on a recent trip 200 km from home. I’m impressed that it works with half (?) of it missing. Full marks for something else contributing to make this one of Citroen’s best models. Fortunately its big weakness in regard to steering racks does not let it down due to no salt on our roads.

Re: C5 X7 Radio aerial
Which bit is missing (1) or (2)?
Whichever it is, I hope you've plugged or sealed it as water in there will get to the wiring loom and the rear courtesy lights / headlining. Mine was intact, but managed to leak, so I had to get some silicone sealant around the rubber base. Maybe I'd been a bit too adventurous with the pressure washer....

Re: C5 X7 Radio aerial
Marc, it is a 50mm stubby rubber extension which screws into the “shark fin” base. I stole the extension from our C4 to replace it. I can’t imagine how it came out as it is a tight fit when screwed in as the rubber surface of both the male and female pieces should have ensured a friction grip. Someone may have even stolen it just as I did of the C4.
Now your diagram has raised a doubt in my mind that the extension was not a short stubby on as per the DS4 and the C4. My memory, what is left of it, may not be serving me correctly. I shall now revert to photos of the car.

Re: C5 X7 Radio aerial
Then the shark fin is after-market equipment as these were never officially fitted Don - so looks to have been added by a previous owner.... and it's well-known that these aftermarket shark fin type antennas can perform poorly:
- Limited reception: The compact design can limit the antenna's ability to receive weak signals, especially for AM/FM radio or television reception.
- Reduced performance: The smaller size and different shape of sharkfin antennas may result in reduced signal strength and coverage compared to taller, more traditional antennas.
- Potential interference: The proximity of the sharkfin antenna to the vehicle body may cause interference or signal disruption in some cases.

Re: C5 X7 Radio aerial
Thanks Marc. Not being a slave to fashion, but giving it a passing acknowlegement, shark fin antennae are out. I would really like something which would provide good AM reception. Is AM transmission still about in the UK? It has been well used here up until recent times as it is a long distance transmitter so is useful outside metropolitan areas. I suppose northern Scotland or West Wales would be the only areas in the UK which would qualify as “the sticks” using a rough definition. We reckon anything over 200km between towns is remote so short wave radios are very prevalent with caravan travellers.

Oh well, It's bad enough getting a decent DAB signal here - sounds like Norman Collier.....
Can't say I've personally ever used AM (don't they use that for the shipping forecast)? I shall have to experiment (and come to think of it - check if I even have AM as an option on my system tomorrow).

Re: C5 X7 Radio aerial
As a point of interest Marc Talksport is still broadcasting on AM and with half a million listeners it may hang around a while!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: C5 X7 Radio aerial
Yes indeed you can, as can I but the DAB signal around Hertford is hopeless, more cut off than on so 1089 AM is my regular feed!

Re: C5 X7 Radio aerial
I can't even get the Talk Radio listing - I expect it depends on where they bother to transmit from, but I have raised it with them and not had a response. Although I would not be surprised if Don could pick it up in Aus!
