So, I just got a 2019 DS 7, installed MyDS on my phone and it helpfully told me I was running on 2018 firmware and there was an update. Half an hour later, armed with a USB stick I started the update... 10 minutes in it gave me a failure. Ouch, as a software engineer myself, I thought this is an expensive car, surely it will have a seamless rollback. And it claimed it did, only to reboot in a blue "Software loading on demand" screen...
I am creating a new USB stick in case the other one was faulty, but my main issue is that even if I turn off the engine and lock the car, that blue screen stays on. So if my second attempt fails and I'd have to go to a DS dealer, my battery will surely be dead. Any ideas? At least to turn the stuck infotainment system off? I am thinking I should look at the fuse diagram...

Re: DS 7 Failed firmware update...
You should be aware that the firmware updates on these can be in excess of 40 minutes! So don't even bother doing this unless you have the time to do it fully - or you can brick the system if you interrupt it. I certainly would not pull the fuse in this state for the same reason.
If you provide your VIN I can see which system you have. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

Re: DS 7 Failed firmware update...
Thanks for offering to help. After a while the screen turned off so as I was not worried of the battery running out, I ordered a brand new USB stick, prepared it today and turned on the car with the blue screen showing again. As soon as I plugged in the USB stick it started a firmware update and after half an hour or so it rebooted to the system.
HOWEVER, going to system it shows system version 31.09.46.62_NAC-r0, which is the original one from 2018, when the USB stick had 42.03.33.42_NAC-r0. So I don't understand, did all that not update it in the end?

Re: DS 7 Failed firmware update...
Oh, I see a change. The map function is gone. Tapping on the map gives me "Map not available. Updating or mapping absent."

Re: DS 7 Failed firmware update...
So the firmware update failed and it has recovered to the original version, but has removed the maps.
At least you have a working system now. If you like you can try just updating the maps and leave the firmware alone.

Re: DS 7 Failed firmware update...
When I got my Ds9 someone on another forum had one too. We have never had a firmware update but a maps one.
I was advised during the update to keep the engine running as it goes into eco shutdown mode and the install aborts. As such I did the install on a 1 hour drive a few months later.
The issue is while it's updating the whole system shuts down. So no radio and no heater controls.

Re: DS 7 Failed firmware update...
I tried the full update again, and this time it worked. It then proposed to do the maps update. That one failed. I restarted the engine, popped the USB back in, it still proposed the firmware update, I skipped, then I said YES when it proposed "Update map-eur present on the media inserted... Start installation?" I select the only available file "map-eur" and click Install. Then tells you to not switch off the ignition for a few seconds, but before I get any progress bar I get "Update map-eur has failed".GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑27 Aug 2024, 20:02 So the firmware update failed and it has recovered to the original version, but has removed the maps.

Not sure what else I can try

Perhaps I can download that separately from somewhere?

Re: DS 7 Failed firmware update...
You also have an after-sales campaign concerning water in the rear lights - may want to get the dealer to check it out - should be free to do, ref: JAQ.
Regarding the map, here's the standalone link - again, essential to reformat the USB to FAT32 and extract ONLY the contents of the compressed file to the USB.

Re: DS 7 Failed firmware update...
Yep, that worked, thanks! Not sure how the DS app was making a "broken" USB (it had also given me v10 instead of v16).
Only lingering issues currently:
- Google maps on my phone not giving audio instructions via the car (in fact the car just switches automatically to radio after a bit). Only way is if I have spotify playing music on the phone, then I can hear the navigation too. Maybe I will just start tethering to get android auto instead... It was the same with the old firmware, I was hoping this would have been fixed...
- MyDS android app was working before the whole firmware upgrade. Now it is stuck to that old data from 4 days ago and refresh gives me an error (although my bluetooth is working fine otherwise for audio etc)
