with Jim ?..he normally just lets me know when he is coming down :)..... but since he has metamorphised into Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen I think he is busy making "Art" to populate his "space" so better to channel its "energy" through the medium of colour, texture and a non-binary sensual philosophy.............with an added AX or two

It tends to be at quite short notice Roger, mainly due to my prevailing health. I rarely plan anything very far in the future as my ability to actually go ahead with plans is a bit of a lottery.

That said, if you want to try to arrange a potential date and can do at short notice we can try. I may have an opportunity early next month...

Yes Jim. Let me know a day or so before going or further ahead if possible and just keep me updated. I can then try and get down at same time whether it’s the e next time or the time after.

Otherwise it will be next year or perhaps 2026 at this rate…

Will do Roger ;) It'll be mid-week and usually on a Tuesday... I'll have a natter with Alasdair in due course...

Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday :-D

I have my in-line pressure tester and balljoint tool packed ready, along with my overalls and arm protectors :)

Sorry Alasdair. Unfortunately I will not be able to make this Tuesday as I have a prior engagement at 6:30 in the evening and I think it will be too early a start and then I'll need to be box-fresh at 6:30pm which wouldn't happen with such an early start.

I've said to Jim that it will likely be the next time all being well. I have to get a new cylinder too to come down with.

Well.....that is an "interesting" discovery !....bugger, but not really a surprise on a 30 year old Xantia.

Note the corrosion "waisting" on the strut body caused by a split gaiter and the subsecant build-up of crap inside.

20240901_150036.jpg

I also have to remove the steering rack to replace the gaiters on that as they all need doing.
I think it will be quicker to remove it whole rather than my normal "struggle" method.
The car being so simple...vrs the v.6 Activa.... will help a LOT and make it a somewhat easier job to do as access is so much better (or not impossible without removing the engine :) )
