Well maybe it is theirs that is the problem, I always am in the bay chatting/looking under the car when at my local MoT place, it does shake but never so "violently" I am concerned that it will cause breakages.

With the local history of failures it seems they have a problem....

If your springs are fatigued, where would you rather be when they break?

More info on material failures as a result can be found at: https://www.omnicalculator.com/physics/ ... xplanation
They do not shake like a paint mixer, it is more random than that and there are way to many dampening points (tyres/bushes,tyre seat etc) for any frequency to be maintained.

I would think there is a problem with the "violence setting" on their machine :) and I have never seen my MoT tester walk away during that part of the test.

Good point Mike! I am actually considering renewing my Subaru springs all round as the ride seems to be getting bumpier as the time goes by and I occasionally catch sleeping policeman type bumps when fully loaded. The car is approaching 150k miles and at 20 years old I think it deserves a new set of coil overs. :)

I have only see the shaker machines in France and both of them appeared to be sinusoidal vibrations swept from 0 to about 20 Hz and back. With HA suspension in soft mode, the cars moved not a millimeter.

Your right there , i did have one go about 3 miles from home and drove very slow and careful . To be able to stand under a deck while in operation id rather not . Im pleased with the new place i use his advice is brillant & he even points out things that may need doing due to service life & so on . Where as the old mot station would be vauge with explaning faults , the new one pin points it to the detail .

Well that says it all , the old place i used definatly has something wrong with there deck , seeing my car shaking faster than shakin stevens in his prime says it all . But i will say as with everthing & anything views and personal experiences will differ.

One spring was 8 months old , so maybe week metal , purchased from nappa parts . Maybe parts are not being forged properly ?

Replaced the speakers (there are only front ones, the rear door card has no place for one, not even a cover) as the cones were totally dust.

I decided to snip off the male connectors together with the braided wires that go to the working parts of the speaker cones.....I then used these braided wires to solder the connector to the pads on the new speakers. I secured the connectors to the new speakers with hot-melt glue.

Both fitted, both working.............BUT.

Funny thing happening with the radio, when I press to increase the volume, the output --jumps instantly-- to full volume....it will come back down again and then is adjustable. Leave it for a bit and it does the same.... it does exactly the same with the steering wheel controls.
