That looks a fairly shiny shed to me Alasdair. I know we couldn't find them all but are you going to treat it to a set of wheel trims? :-D

Cleaned it up a bit....the paint is truly dreadful !...without a full respray it always will be....and that is NOT going to happen.

I think it once had the plague it has so many pop marks in the clear coat, scrapes, scratches and stone chips.

Take pride in your rat-box is what I say !

That's looking absolutely awesome Alasdair :D A real credit to you  Now, please, please, ease my stress by replacing the water pump and cambelt as soon as... It worries me and I'd hate to see all this great work all go down the pan because of a snapped cambelt...

If a 1.9TD belt lets go - and they do if not replaced regularly - it's game over... I've seen the carnage.

Ideally you need to do it pre-MoT as they can snap during the snap-idle test.

Very happy to help you with the job. I can do a 1.9TD belt in my sleep. No need to replace the jockeys or tensioner, just the belt. It would be muppetry not to do the water pump at the same time... I once was that muppet

You will ;)

The nice thing about an early sinker without aircon is that it makes the job more straightforward :) If it was a D, rather than a TD it would be even easier...

Trims change to look a bit.......

Whilst waiting and waiting and waiting for the oil to arrive I gave the engine bay a bit of a clean up...

I note : some rusty bolts to replace and the headlamps are very early style glass so I will replace those with more (only slightly better) ones with a (only slightly) better low beam pattern.

Ohhhh, new (ish) headlamps from the spares shelf and a replacement indicator unit to replace the one with sellotape on it.

I have to fix a high beam on one side, earth I think

I ordered some paint in the correct EKL colour which was slightly off.....so they mixed a new batch for me....

You do realise Alasdair that the more excellent jobs you do on this car, the more the paintwork will annoy you and you'll end up painting it after all!! From a rat to a mink comes to mind!! :rofl2:

Ohhh.... I will paint it.....but in a "special" way.

I painted this a few years ago....only the two front wings are original, the rest I faked.

Rain, mist, fog, drizzle and grey skys stopped play today......so I got on with a repair/rebuild and paint job today.
A leaky cast iron rad (seals0) and with a pin-hole in a leg section.
20241116_100111.jpg

Disassembled, cleaned, seal surfaces "levelled" and polished, new leg section, new seals and joining nuts, re-assembled, pressure tested to 6bar and painted.
