Best be a new topic I think.....once "done" and on the road I can then add any new details into my normal blog......but that will be some time away.

That truly was a magical adventure and the car is an absolute diamond I know, I rode shotgun in it all the way back
It rides beautifully and is really quite joyous. It's going to scrub up a perfect treat. All the critical bits seem very good and healthy.
Shows just how comfy a good early Sinker Xantia is Once again, original is best!
Thanks Alasdair and Mick for making it a truly magical day Not had so much fun in ages!

More images of the "Ratantia".... I have decided to not fix the body/paint at all.....it will run as-is (with only areas that might rust protected) It may also have "rust" added, fake welded patches and its paint "faux flaked/chipped"
Mechanically it will be worked over, tuned boost/fuel etc and will be run on a Veg 30% ----- 40% old filtered hydraulic oil mixed with ---- 30% fresh diesel.

I managed to claim a couple of useful things during our recovery of the Ratmobile, this is the one I've installed this morning

The Gunson GasTester appears functional too
I'll try it out properly on Bluebell when I've fixed the noisy calibration pot...

Be happy to have a look on my next visit Alasdair... As long as the transformer is good I should be able to make it live again...Stickyfinger wrote: ↑14 Aug 2024, 18:30 The rusty old battery charger does not work however.........Jim, you have a project to test/fix or throw out

Re: Xantia 1.9TD....wake up and back on the road after 10 Years
What a real old proper car ! I know what these drive like as i had one several yr back which i purchased for £400 with M.O.T i ran it for a few months loved it to bits ,, i serviced it fully , changed all the fluids new breaks all round , Then got hit by a boy racer doing way over the speed limit on a back road .... he went straight across the front on my car . Then blamed me.
The blue one was my firsf xantia , the silver was my second.

The Xantia is one of the few cars that looks good in silver...

I'd agree with that Jim and I'd add the Xsara in silver, as the ex had, looked ok too. Something to do with the front grill/bumper/lights design I reckon!
