I have just fitted a pair of reconditioned Xantia top strut mounts from KingAs and I'm very pleased so far. Pricey at £400 for the pair including the shipping and disgusting UK tax and customs handling fees but the peace of mind is worth it.

I communicated with them over email and WhatsApp. They kept me informed all along so I would personally recommend them.

I used UPS to post mine to them in Lithuania and for £23 that service was excellent in case anyone is interested!

They look very nice....I fear £400 is the total worth/value of the car I and fixing however :)

I paid £600 for my Xantia. They are cheap because you need to spend money on them. Citroen don't make these cars anymore and they become rarer everyday. I think it's worth every penny as I hope to have another 100,000 miles of floating hydropneumatic comfort. The new polyurethane rubber is matched to the original rubber hardness and the car rides like new. It's hard to describe but it's restored the NVH of a new car. Wish I experienced this car when it was new!

If you scrapped the car later on, these mounts are worth salvaging and selling on

All true....however "value vrs costs does matter esp as this car is "not the best to look at" even if it is very solid/rust free.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A new "problem" today.

I have discovered that very early cars used 10mm threaded ball joints on the drop links/roll bar/struts....all available drop links are the later 12mm threads.

Easy to enlarge (not a conical fitting like steering arms) to 12mm on the strut bracket but the Anti-Roll bar destroyed two drill bits.

My solution will be a Cobalt Die-grinder/burr and some careful insertions :)

Cut off original/new

That's a bit of a ball-ache Alasdair  :( The very early Xantias have a few 'gotchas' like this. I believe steering track rod ends and track rods are smaller than later models...

You'll need a good drill on the ARB ends as being springy, they're hard and tempered... The strut ends should be a bit easier to drill out...

At least once it's done it'll make it easier to source replacements next time...

As sourced (with the great help of Mick & Jim whilst on their tour) from a scrap yard Ooop Narth.

Early sinker HP-Pump
FDV [v]alve
Regulator
Steering HP pipe.........took about a hour to clean it, Screw-Fix degreaser and a jet washer........

Interesting "fix" using copper and solder !

Pretty messy solder job too! but if it holds it holds doesn't it
Did't know the right diameter in copper was out there... I know a place in Holland that sells soft copper (bendable by hand) tubes for this purpose in the right diameter, but this looks like hard copper tubing.

To me it looks like the hard copper was fitted, then at a later date, that also failed (as it always does) so whomever then tried to fix that with ?silver? solder.

Indeed, that particular pipe is subject to considerable vibration and hence the failure... I've fixed a couple on a BX...

More work of the Scrap Yard supplies today....

All the pipe unions came undone VERY easily = good :) SO I started to clean up the Pump, Regulator and the FDV....wire brushed, rust killed and to be painted tomorrow.

Half way through rust killer being applied.......

Makes it a lot better/easier to fit.....and we all know if you paint something it fixes any problems it may have had if it was not painted
