FYI... I do not think China ever produced C5 struts/ever seen a copy.... I think they were made in Poland.

Ah my bad, it's not Polish then! Although one of the suppliers of a non-OE strut was a Chinese company. Perhaps that's where I got the idea from?

The cheapest i could find a genuine strut on Ebay was for £237.99. How does £230 sound? Hopefully I won't need a replacement RH strut myself next week!

Hi Paul-R,
That's very good of you to offer your strut to me and £230 sounds fair. The problem I have is I'm not sure if the problem is caused by the strut as it was just renewed in January.
I've been in touch with an eBay company and they said they'd take the strut back if the problem turns out not to be the strut. This is the strut they're selling - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235423197054 ... name=11051
Is this not a genuine strut?
Paul, would you be willing to take the strut back if it turned out not to be the strut causing the problem? It would mean fitting it to the car and taking it for a short test drive. If I were to send you it back, I could offer you say £50 for letting me try it. See what you think.
Regards,
Ian

I would be very surprised if any company tooled up to produce After-Market struts for C6/C6's..........the sales/margins, I just cannot see it would be worth it.

On closer inspection, the strut on eBay I sent a link to does say it's made in China.
Paul-R - I'll buy your strut and forget my question about if you'd take it back or not. I can always sell it on if it turns out not to be the problem.
If you could send it via a courier that would be great. Could you email your bank details and address to ****************** and we'll take it from there?

Ian

Hi all!
I recently changed leaking right front strut on my wife's 2008 X7 2.0i 16V. I bought Chinese version on ebay (both sides). Since then I got problems. Right side went from bit stiff to totally hard (seems like a blown sphere). Symptoms were just like described before in this topic....first it looked ok then it became stiffer than normal. So I checked pressures of both spheres: L 44bar, R 40bar... I changed L to R and vice versa. Left side with then 40bar sphere was normal, R was stiffer. Few days later I found out that right side was totally hard.
I suspect strut. Chinese one is in my opinion not worth buying.
Is it possible that I did something wrong (not properly bleeding the system) that caused the sphere to blow??
At the moment I am on vacation so I will try to solve problem after 15th of August.
I plan to buy all three new IFHS spheres of front and new OE strut.
Any thoughts?
Best regards,
Tomaž
