BX16v Problem: Red light of whater/radiator

Post by soupapes »

Hello!
I'm having a small problem in my BX 16v that start to cite:
When it arrives 160 km/h it lights me the red light of
whater/radiator in the panel. If I to slightly release the pedal of
the accelerator, the light disappears. This recently happened me when
it arrived the 120 Km/h, and when i had replaced the thermostat for a new one, the light never lighted anymore. However passed some days, it came back to light again, but now at 160Km/h. The temperature of the engine is normal, and the engine does not lost any whater. Anyone knows whats the reason why it happens??? Sorry my english...

Have you checked the radiator water level? I had the same problem on my ZX and I learned that the light comes on if you have a low water level even if the temperature is normal.

My phase 216v did the same at high revs and a new probe in the bottom of the header tank fixed it.

Hi Luke, Slightly off topic but can you give me details on the engines mods you have done to make it that quick, what sort of bhp does it have now etc. Also on your site you say its 0-62mph is 7.4secs, ive only seen it quoted at 7.8 in standard form?

Citroen quote 7.4s to 62. I think that is for the phase 2 with the taller gearbox. I think the earlier ones had lower ratios and you had to change into third so this ruined the time. I've had more than one of both but that was years ago so I may be wrong.

Hi there
citroen do quote 7.4 for the phase 2 but you will find that is in 3rd gear as the std rev limiter won't let you hit 60 in 2nd gear.
Pretty sure the phase 1 and 2 gear ratios are the same the difference AFAIK was the BE1 and BE£ reverse gear gate.

Hi Darren
The raised rear spoiler indicates phase 1 the lip rear spoiler is the phase 2.G was the year of change,BE3 boxes are most likely to be phase2.
