How similar?

Post by oscarloco »

I just received notice that my local Citroen dealership is going out of bussiness and no longer will it be importing spares for Citroen.
Now, I know that my ZX and the Peugeot 305 are brothers but what I would like to know is How similar are they?
I know that the oil filter and maybe the air filter are the same but where do the similarities end?

Just about anything on the engine, gearbox, driveaxles on similar engine Peug models would be the same.
So would most of the electrics/electronics - except of course for the exterior lamps.
The chassis parts would be completely different - because of the design differences.
Peugeot has for decades been a general "french" supplier all over the world when no other french agents were around.

Peugeot dealers can access the Citroen parts database and order Citroen parts.
I found this out after my local Citroen dealer failed to come up with the correct part.

Thanks guys. Now I have some hope. I was reluctant on accepting the fact that I would have to let go of my ZX, it is simply the best car in the whole world. But now I can see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Well seeing as Peugeot & Citroen are the same company PSA, You shouldnt have any trouble sourcing parts for your car.
