Ok, so you don't have the CD changer fitted at factory.

Have you replaced or changed anything including the NG4?
Have you used Lexia / Diagbox to change anything?
Has this NG4 come from another vehicle?

Nothing was changed as far as I know I bought the car with few issues while ago with intention of putting back on the road so I flexed the wiring loom for rear parking sensors and Egr valve but I can’t figure out why the stereo is playing up like this

The SOS button is part of the services module, which is essentially a telematic unit for providing geolocation services in an emergency and emergency calling in the even of an airbag activation.

If the SOS is flashing, this likely means the battery needs replacing (as it will be 14 years old now). As the services module is linked directly to the NG4 it may be a reason why the unit is playing up. May be worth checking with the dealer to confirm and check replacement cost.

Well where the services module is fitted, it does control the microphone and routes info to the NG4, then you have the equaliser Amp too to factor in.

I can't say that why will resolve the issue, but it is one factor.

It's possible the NG4 has or is starting to suffer from a Hard Drive Failure given the age. I replaced mine with a CF card upgrade for which I put a guide on this sub-forum.
You should be able to get some sort of fault codes or look at live data - if you use Diagbox - I can't speak for Autel though.

When you run a global scan, it will start interrogating the NG4 and you may hear it kick into life for a second, but after that, see what, if any faults you get.

You can also select the NG4 ECU from the list of ECUs and from there, can select some live tests to check button pushes and various other things.

Yeah I’ve done that and all buttons work however no sound coming through the speakers but after 30-40 minutes it does start to play and it will work fine until I switch the engine off and lock the car

Ok, sounds suspiciously like the hard drive is on the way out! Constant resetting is the first sign of imminent failure.

I have the firmware should you need this, which is the last edition released. It can be used to reinstall the operating system. Let me know if you need this. Automotive quality drives are very hard to get these days.

So how do I go about fixing this issue ? I’m quite handy with electronics as I do remapping and mechanics just never had this issue before so if you got any advice or guide it would be hugely appreciated and yeah I could do with the firmware if you don’t mind
