Xantia height corrector brackets wanted

Post by jvwykes »

Hello folks

I took my car in for a check of the suspension at the weekend. Some of the issues are caused by sticking mechanical height corrector mechanisms, not the hydraulic part. The garage told me the ball on the end of the bracket, which clamps to front and rear antiroll bars. is very rusty. If the plastic dog bone linkage is disconnected they might not be able to refit it.

Does anyone out there have a pair of those brackets, no.s 3 & 4 on the attached photo, they are willing to sell, so I can refurbish

regards

James

Never had an issue refitting the dog bones as they just press on with light pressure. If the ball is rusted, that due to a lack of lubrication & water ingress behind the small seal. There was a later modification part which was a light spring clip that slipped over the dog bone, not shown in your illustration.
If the dog bone slips off the brackets, that usually indicates the moving parts of the height corrector are seized. I do keep a few of these that are moded to allow regular lubrication.
You will have fun sourcing new fixed brackets as there are a number of variations for them. The ball ends 'never' wear out in my experience.
I do have some new OE dog bones, brackets & later spring clips

A timely post!

Just rebuilt a height corrector and this reminds me that I usually only ever lubricate the HC pin. Never thought about linrictaing the knuckle of the actual bracket that attached to the roll bar.

That surely also needs to be free to ensure a correctly operating system.

@handyman. Do you have any photos of the modification you made?
