Gearbox and Parking Break Fault C4 Grand Picasso

Post by BillJonez »

I have a 2014 Citroen Grand C4 Picasso 1.6 e-HDi Exclusive+ ETG6
Now it won't start and the regular garage can't help.
It gives Gearbox fault and parking break fault and when trying to start it shows as the gear is M-
Can't change the gear with either the lever or the paddles
On the ODB diagnostic. The only fault is P1352
The electrician said he checked the grounds and they are OK
Any ideas
The car had clutch change 6 mo ths ago and cambelt change just before that
Thanks

P-1352 can be caused by a missing earth lead on the LH end of the head - there are other threads on here about it. Not sure it will stop it starting, but you never know! You probably need some better diagnostics on it, whereabouts in Glasgow are you?

Hi Bill.

I had the same problem with my 2009 C4 Grand Picasso Diesel 1.6, semi auto gearbox. It was the gear selector lever. I bought a second one on eBay for £44 and changed it myself. Worked instantly. No more gearbox faulty message, car changes into “A” and “R” every time now. Approved dealer wanted £520 to supply and change it. The lever is very easy to change, there is an excellent video on YouTube detailing how to change it:

Prior to fixing my problem, research revealed many possible causes of this problem, such as wiring looms damaged, corroded fuses, loose earth cables. The most common cause appears to be the gear lever selector, and at an average price of under £50 for a second hand one, and only ten minutes to fit, it’s definitely worth a try as your first step. Just make sure the number on the back of your replacement gear lever is exactly the same as the number on the back of your faulty one.

Good luck mate.
