What is that under my bonnet!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by pompelge »

Got myself another ZX, this time a TD. Anyway I was looking under the bonnet the other day doing the usual fluid checks etc when I came across a key switch on the left of the slam panel. Using the ignition key turns in on or off but I don't know what it turns on or off. It looks like a Citroen fitment. Couldn't find anything in the workshop manual. Any help unearthing its purpose would be appreciated.

hi pompelge, I have a xantia and this has an ignition key under the bonnet. It is to isolate the alarm siren. You cab use it is the car is going in for a service or if you need to disconnect your battery.

Its a good idea to check that the switch is set to " ON " when your looking at purchasing a Citroen / Peugeot.
Often the alarm system is switched off because its gone faulty, But the remote locking a indicator flashing will still work.
The Peugeot dealer gave up on my 405s alarm in the end, Goes on in the middle of the night when its locked in a garage & blows fuse all the time, So I got a Cat 1 Clifford instead.
