Eco suddenly activated

Post by babulasi »

Hi to all, sorry if this topic was already created, I didn't find it...so, I have a Citroen DS5 2.0 blueHDI 180hp, 235000km, 2015...problem I have is when driving at higher speeds (not full throtle, abou 60% and accelerating) in fifth gear, the car suddenly activates eco mode, momentarily feeling like it loses power, and then the heater/glow plug light comes on in that moment...is there anyone who know what problem is?I mean, I'm gonna replace all glow plugs, but is there any other issue comes with those symptoms?

Ignore it if the ECO light flashes on occasions then goes off, this is normal behaviour for the system and can happen at any time when driving in some special conditions (battery charge, engine temperature, braking assistance, ambient temperature...) where the engine is needed to assure control of a system.

This is normal operation - see your handbook.

Yes, it has no significance when it flashes like that periodically at speed. It's because all the conditions for the system are checked constantly and nothing to be concerned about.

Ok, so the other glow plug lighting issue means the vehicle is regenerating the particle filter.

When it does this, sometimes the engine ECU can command the glow plugs to operate briefly to increase temperature of the exhaust gasses to aid with regeneration. That's why you probably noticed a slight drop in power as the engine is loaded./ It may also operate the heated mirrors and rear windscreen too for a brief time to increase the engine load.

Again, perfectly normal.
