Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
Please see recent posts above regarding Wave 2 NAC unit certificate issues. You’ll just have to wait until they reissue the certificates for the firmware on this unit.

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
Just joined this forum although I have been reading topics here for some time.
Yesterday I managed to updated the map on the C3 to version 28.
I had tried previously to update the firmware but as others have also found it wont update due to certification problems. I noticed however when comparing the certificates that the map certificates differ slightly from that of the firmware. I´d like to try transposing the certificates and see if this rectifies the problem.... HOWEVER The C3 is my wifes car and my life wont be worth living if I crash the system. My C4, which uses the same system, is in Spain so cant test the theory at the moment but when I go back in a couple of weeks Ill give it a try and report back. In the mean time if anyone cares to give it a try it might be worth a go.

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
No - that will not work. The certificates are encrypted and digitally signed for the specific firmware. You'll just have to be patient

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
Wow hi from a first time nervous Citroen owner. I have just bought a 2017 C4 Picasso 1.6 HDI Blue!!
So far so good and am really pleased with the car, but as with numerous others in this thread I am getting the 'Not Compatible with this hardware' error message when trying to update
I have followed all the advice in this thread, used different USB sticks, quick formatted, full formatted etc etc, but to no avail
My next step is to try downloading the files, extracting to a formatted USB and see how that goes
When formatting can someone possibly confirm what I should select 'Allocation Unit Size'? (I have pretty well tried every choice), also of course the update software formats the usb drive just before saving the downloaded files.
The car has never been updated so firmware and maps are dated 2017
My Vin is - VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Thank you and lastly how can I make a donation?

Hi and thanks for your Forum donation, your membership has been upgraded, so if you need any official part numbers or part diagrams, just request them on the
Citroen, DS Automobiles and Peugeot Official Part Number Requests thread.
Ok, so you will have the same problem as others - it's a certificate issue with the update. PSA digitally sign and encrypt the certificates for each firmware and at present these are out of date so the head unit is refusing to allow the firmware to be updated until they update the firmware certificates. This mostly only affects people who have not updated the vehicles for years - or have recently bought a second hand vehicle that has not been updated by the previous owner, In this case, firmware version 21.08.90.52_NAC-r0 was released in October 2022, and since then, the certificate has expired, preventing installation. We don't know if or when PSA will re-sign them, as this is likely to be the last firmware for this hardware version of the NAC Wave 2 unit.
But regardless, here are the files in case you want to try. Note that your vehicle has WiFi on board (so no licence file required - although included here nonetheless), so will attempt to authorise the firmware update over the air (OTA). If it fails, you'll know why. So I would focus on the maps only, as these are not authorised the same way.
Don't worry about allocation unit size - that won't affect anything - just leave the default values and make sure it is FAT32 formatted. See the notes in the last link.

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
Hi Marc
I know the NAC Wave 2 unit is quite old now ( I´ve got it on my 2017 C4 grand picasso in Spain) but I´d be surprised if PSA don´t issue an updated version of the firmware as the current version of the C3 Origin was only introduced in April 2024 and still uses that same unit.
My wifes C3 was purchased new in May of this year and came with version 21.08.87.32_NAC-r1 which was the latest available at the time.
Soon after she purchased the car we checked for firmware and map updates using the Citroen Update and although there was a map update no firmware update was available at that time. It´s only in the last couple of months that the new version has been available so I´m surprised you say it was released in October 2022.

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
Yes, but a 2024 model wouldn't have an elderly version of the firmware though, would it?
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
That is the case. I have this exact same version on my car since it came out back then. That is the date this specific firmware was released. The wave 2 unit has been in use since 2017.daverave53 wrote: 01 Dec 2024, 16:54 Hi Marc

There will 99.9% not be a new firmware version released for Wave 2 Head units as they are end of life. The systems have been superseded by Wave 3 and the last of these, the Wave 4. Each being fitted on later vehicles or specific facelifted vehicles. You should be aware that just becasue a car is later, it does not follow that it gets a Wave 3 or Wave 4 unit..... These are only fitted to specific vehicles that have different systems and later technology or that are designed to use them.
Despite your car being purchased in 2024, this model had already been out several years earlier so won't be the Fourth generation CC21 model that was released in Europe in October 2023.
The RCC / NAC systems themselves have now been replaced by the IVI systems as fitted on new C4x, eC4, new C5X and others going forward, but again, will not be fitted to earlier models that had the Wave * systems.

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
Hi Marc,
I reached out to you couple of months ago because the citroen servers don't recognise the last update (42.03.33.42) I did, and for that I can't do any subsequent firmware updates.
The update-software keeps on suggesting to install 42.03.33.42, which is already up and running.
In the end we concluded my telematic unit is not working and because of that the current firmware is not known by the servers.
So I contacted my dealer and it seems the BTA-unit is down, which would cost me around 900€ to get a new one installed and programmed.
Is there another way you could think of to get the firmware updated? I would prefer a cheaper one then the above
In case you need my VIN: VR7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Thanks

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
The only way you can install firmware without OTA authorisation is with a licence file. Just follow the last link for instruction on creating the directory and critically the NAMING of the folder as per the instructions.

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
Hi, I recently bought a 2017 3008 that apparently has the software version which causes it to restart when my phone connects via Bluetooth to it. Since I can't use the latest update what can I do to fix this? I can't use AA because when I connect my phone it automatically spawns a BT connection which causes the unit to restart after some time.

The 42.03.33.42_NAC-r0 is already installed, allthough citroen servers don't recognize it because of my broken BTA.GiveMeABreak wrote: 02 Dec 2024, 14:53 The only way you can install firmware without OTA authorisation is with a licence file. Does the license file you generated also work for the newer updates, like 44.02.13.12 and newer? Or is it a different one?

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
Hi Marc
I´ve been doing some investigating as I hate it when things that should work don´t Grrr.
Managed to find the Stellantis developers web site which made for interesting reading!
https://developer.groupe-psa.io/webport ... nt-system/
Whilst on the site I found the following information which may be of interest.
Share of NAC waves in 2022
SW version Percentage of vehicles
NAC Wave 2 58%
NAC Wave 3 8%
NAC Wave 4 34%
I also found a contact form and put forward the following so will report back IF they reply.
"Please be aware that as at 04/12/2024 the latest release of the NAC Wave 2 firmware (21.08.90.52_NAC-r0) cannot be installed by users due to problems with the certification. All attempts return " Hardware not compatible" when trying to install. This has been reported on various forum websites."
Perhaps if others contact them they may take note and do something about it but I won´t hold my breath!!

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
PSA re-issued certificates for WAWE2: at least now they dated Dec-02-2024 (and files have been actually changed) but it doesn't solve the problem (at least in my case).
