The car has an SOS button, does that mean I don't need to copy the license key to USB?

Are you sure the USB flash drive doesn't have the firmware update? The "Firmware update error" implies that it tries to update the firmware...

If you have the SOS and the Assistance buttons, it means you have a BTA (Boîtier Télématique Autonome) / ATB (Autonomous Telematics Box) - so, yes, the infotainment system can verify the license online, and you don't need that file on the USB flash drive.
But the signing certificate and the firmware license are 2 distinct entities. The former confirms that the firmware came from PSA/Stellantis and wasn't tampered with, and the latter allows your system (serial number) to install that particular firmware version (UpdateID).
The current problem is the signing certificate, and only PSA/Stellantis can fix it by releasing a new firmware update with a valid certificate (public key stored at SWL/00*/Certificates/PSA-OVIP-CS-G1.crt) and the file SWL/001*/MediaHeader/MediaVersion.ini signed with said certificate (their private key pair). The new (valid) certificate already exists - http://pki.p3cs.com/PSA-OVIP-CS-G1.crt - and was used to sign the latest NAC Wave 2 and Wave 4 firmware versions. They just need to use it to sign the MediaVersion.ini file in the NAC Wave 3 firmware...

I did with an exact explanation of the problem caused by the corrupted and outdated certificate.
I have 2 cases open now and maybe they will reply in the next 5 days. If they push an new updated version of the update, please write it here so we can do the Nac 4 upgrade to get map support.

Thank you all!

If there will be an patched version with valid certificate I am very very happy but until then I thank you for the support! The info is very clear and helps a lot! :)

@Paulus33 How did you fix the multimedia problem?

This screen appears when I start the car:

After inserting a USB flash drive with a firmware update, this screen appears:

Please provide more details about the problem you are experiencing. I have contacted the manufacturer's support and described the issue, but I am still waiting for a response. I mentioned that after attempting a firmware update, the multimedia system does not start.

Hi to everyone.
I am a happily owner of a Cactus '19. I have read the forum and I have tried to update my system following the instructions from Mycitroen App.
I have tried 2 USB sticks with no luck , "Version not compatible with the hardware".
My current version is "31.09.46.62_NAC-r0" , it's too old and I believe never upgraded (I am the second owner).

Should I keep trying with diferent USB sticks or I have to upgrade to an older version and then to the newer?
Is it the same problem as I have read with the certificates?

update: I have managed to read some pages now and I understood that I must wait for new signed firmware.

Please read the reply to you that has already been made by Rui regarding this!:

Just insert a USB flash drive with the map update - for your NAC Wave 2 system, the latest European map is 28.0.0-r0.
When the car asks for your confirmation to install that map update, just cancel it. The system should start operating normally, without the "Software loading on demand" blue screen.
and here:

This also applies to you: viewtopic.php?p=830789#p830789

Because you already have the USB flash drive with both the system/firmware and maps/cartography updates, just delete the SWL\001*\ folder (system) and leave only the SWL\002*\ (maps) folder.

In other words, to recover a system with the "Software loading on demand" blue screen error, it's usually enough to insert a USB flash drive with the map update, without even needing to really install it.

I know its off topic, but there is something very wrong with the OTA updates for C5X. I see on DS, PUG, Opel websites that there is a bunch of firmware releases and I am still stuck on NHW 1.19.44.8. The most recent one is 1.30.40.15 - so several major releases in between, and tons of minor releases.
https://www.peugeot.com/en/oss-source-codes.html#ivi1

The national importer told me to check with the dealer/service - and they said (they do not see any new firmware available - that was 6 months ago)

Hi all,
I’ve been trying to update my system on a 2020 C5 aircross and experienced the same issues as many others. I contacted Citroen uk customer support regarding the issues. I did everything they suggested which was just the same as I had been doing. Ie use the Citroen update app etc and try multiple USB devices. Today’s call was to tell me that it is a problem at my end and the files are fine on the server! I tried to say about the certificate issues but they didn’t seem to understand. This has supposedly been escalated to the “technical” department too. All that is left is for me is to take it to my local dealer for them to resolve.
So I’m stuck with version 31.09.46.62_NAC-r0 for now. I will have a chat with the service dept in my dealer and see what they say. I shall report back next week after I’ve been in.

Hi, I did write Peugeot here in Germany and they will send my case to the technical support team to get the details of the issue. Maybe if there are more people who have the problem and report it now they will change the certificates. They told me to send the screenshot with the data.

In my response I’m going to deliver an explanation of the situation so they can really understand what is wrong with the certificate.

I keep you updated
