Im sure theres a joke somewhere above .,

And ive found an oops moment, thought id pop the passenger side drive shaft in , i noticed it was laying to low so had a look underneath and saw the problem , this will be sorted out later, you know what its like time , daylight exhausted mechanics , Sunday just passed these guys did the head gasket kit, timing belt kit crank shaft sensor and new clutch not to mention a pile of looms sensors and other bits & bobs , not to memtion there tales about the several range rovers they have been working on over the past several weeks , they dont like them much, also a job resetting the door pins on a 1008 , along with the bottom part of the auto gearbox that keeps falling off so they relocated this behind the passenger side headlight with new brackets that lock the part into place !

:) The oops moment has been delt with. An update to whats been going on and what a bl@&&y struggle ive had.

Rust proof done , used a black one coat .

Engine was taken out and gearbox all in one by my 2 mechanic pals, the following was done by me.

Complete clutch kit me
Complete head gasket partial me
Complete timing belt pulleys & water pump partial me
New crank shaft sensor pulley not by me.

Engine is back in not by me, ive done the drive shafts , engine had to be lifted over bottom stablizer bar so the back bottom mount to the gearbox could be put back om yes i did it now im suffering, ive done crank and cam shaft sensors having to move the crank pulley to fit this sensor and having to move the brackets and alternator to put the camshaft sensor back on. Ive also put the rear water pipe from coolant filler tank to rear of engine what a flipping pain that was, Ive also put the bracket housing for the fuel filter back into place and its sitting in postion so it can be bolted down , maybe i should pay myself. Im waiting for the guys to come back and finish off , im also hoping my contribution will keep the cost down.

I put the clutch on the engine .

Well at long last the picasso is back up and running , the mechanics didnt come yesterday due to illness, but turned up this evening still looking like absolute death, they were taken aback to the fact id plodded on and almost finished . There were some things that needed finishing off which took altogether 1.5hrs for example the top 11mm nut that locks the pin to the driver side drive shaft, the crank shaft bolt done with there big rattle gun, not to mention checking all the suspenision nuts, bolts amd anything else.
Fluid levels were rechecked and good, then a test drive ..... smoke ..... but the fuel level was very low, we drove back home ,they went in there car got me some diesel which they put it in the car too, we went back out again , No smoke, I also got a 90 quid reduction on the bill for what i did.

A while later i took the wife out for a run in the car we drove to a garage popped 30 quid the tank smelly diesel, we got a hot drink each and drove back home 9 miles , no smoke, nice heat, smooth running car . So nice its done.
The photos with this post are just random shots of different stages of the repair.

Wonder why these smoke when the fuel level is very low , i did read somewhere another owner had this a few times when the fuel is very low the car will smoke , pop half a tank of diesel in all clear. Very weird.
