Citroen C5 X7 No Satellites Issue

Afternoon all,

I have recently purchased a lovely low mileage example of the X7 C5 estate (2010 1.6Hdi) with a satnav. However, I am struggling to get the sat nav to pick up any satellites.

What I have done:

- Factory Reset unit
- Update firmware to RNEG R50b R50.03
- Download latest maps (have tried two different versions)
- Bypassed factory GPS receiver with a cheap one off Amazon and stuck it to the outside roof. (Have driven for approx 1 hour with it plugged in)

I’m starting to think the gps receiver in the unit is faulty. Is there anything else to check before I hunt for a second hand one on eBay?

One thing to note is that I have replaced the screen. The original screen was smashed by the previous owner. I replaced it with a second hand unit with matching part numbers. Would this cause an issue?

As long as the screen was the same part number it should be fine.

The satellite issue is generally down to aerial system or the head unit; so given that you have tried a GPS aerial and gone for a drive with this plugged in (it takes a minimum 10 minutes driving for satellites to lock on), it seems like the head unit GPS tuner has failed internally.

It looks to be that way, I have just purchased a screen and unit replacement for cheap off eBay.

I will report back if it fixes the issue.
