Isn't that the reaction of the average American sparky, when the wife complains about the smell of flux?

Re: "Word/Phrase of the Day"
This was a new one that I heard today, as a exclamation of surprise..
"F**k my old Aunt Agatha's dead pussycat!"
It is without doubt the best bit of vulgarity I've heard for quite some time.

Re: "Word/Phrase of the Day"
We and the Yanks... Two nations divided by a common language...
Maybe not for much longer as the youngsters are increasingly using American English as shown by the increasing use of elevator and sidewalk for example...
We'll be giving up using the letter U next... And using letter sized paper in our printers
Still maybe one beneficial side effect is we in the UK return to a proper system of measurements
Do the Yanks cut a thread using a faucet or a tap I wonder?

Re: "Word/Phrase of the Day"
It irritates me that American spelling as default keeps creeping in with updates.
Only this morning, an American site, it would have it that cheques should be quiches.
And tyres/tires grinds my gears. Sick and tyred of it
I worked with someone who was very precious about using correct English and always called Aluminium 'Aloooominuminum'.

Even worse that they can't distinguish the difference between 'tire' and 'wheel'.
Tiresome.
Tiresome.

Re: "Word/Phrase of the Day"
I have a major bug bare with American/English language. Americans speak American it's not English, it's a second hand copy by people that went over there on boats who couldn't spell

8 letter word somewhere inside must be OKM in consecutive letters.
Can be anywhere in the 8 letter word.
On your marks, get set, go!

Ode to the ardvark
A creature strange to me
Does it live in open ground
Or is it hard to see?

Re: "Word/Phrase of the Day"
I think that was the trap Mick. Aardvark is an 8-letter word with a double A at the start. The right word is easy enough once aardvark is ruled out...mickthemaverick wrote: ↑16 Nov 2023, 23:10 Ode to the ardvark
