I'll have a dig, I'm sure it is described on here somewhere - unless Marc (givemeabreak) spots this first as I'm sure it's some good info he's pulled together

Ah, think this is the one I've read previously:

Thanks Matt, that's great.

Perhaps my car is not quite behaving as it should, but my "lowest" setting is not as low as de-pressurised, so that's my problem.

From now on I shall check with the system de-pressurised :-D

Nah it was only meant in jest - you can't take me too seriously.

In fact as my wife tells everyone, you cannot take anything I say whatsoever seriously, ever.... :?

Absolutely, I doubt he's checking the level after depressurisation at all, the rascal!

You are all definitely getting it... don't trust anything I post, ever, never, not at all, unless I am being serious, which I never am.

My C5 has behavioural issues!

Well I was enjoying being back in the C5, and just the other day I noticed something astounding; without realising it I the milleage has passed 180,000...!

Image

Some achievement for the humble workhorse :-D

But then here I am thinking "we can double that figure" and then C5 comes over all naughty... perhaps I got it's pro-nouns wrong or something...

Driving home last night and I pull out to go past a lorry on the dual carriageway. I blip the throttle a tiny bit to get myself out of the way for the speed demon waiting patiently behind me, and then I get the dreaded "Depolution system faulty" message.

Of course the car removes my cruise control privileges immediately, as some sort of penance, for not maintaining it properly and allowing such a thing to happen.

I got out of the car and noticed something at the back had got very very hot, as I could hear a lot more "tick tick tick" of cooling steel than I usually remember hearing. I can only assume the car was doing a DPF regeneration. There was also an awful smell at the back too.

I was in no mood to mess around this morning as I wanted to get over to the polling station, and then to work, so after glancing at the codes and seeing something about fuel pressure, I cleared the whole lot and drove on. The car has driven perfectly all morning.

Yep I am that sort of idiot... :? I just wanted my cruise control back so my right foot could be lazy on my 40 mile commute... :P

So now I am left wondering what the codes might have told me, and that the C5 needs...

I guess I'll have to overtake another lorry tonight and see if I can repeat the message

My wife's 206 would sometimes momentarily give Depollution faults under heavy acceleration that I thought linked to needing a regen. My hypothesis:
Heavy acceleration = maximum flow & boost.
Clogged DPF + high flow = high pressure differential across DPF itself.
Pressure differential read as "too" high = triggers Depollution message.

In the 206 the message was momentary, engine management light wasn't triggered to stay on. No cruise control so can't confirm that - though my C5 also knocks cruise control off in a similar "I'm not happy so you're going to loose some functionality!"

I did the fuel filter around Christmas time from memory - along with the air filter and a new battery, and a full service.

Yes I am starting to think it's just the "personality" of these cars. As since that day I have accelerated a few times with no issues.

I wonder if it only does it when you accelerate hard during a regen cycle.
