Yamaha of course being a very prominent manufacturer of musical instruments and audio devices.
My "Sonab" record deck is actually made by Yamaha.

I looked at the logo and the reference completely passed me by.

I would never have seen the difference and indeed didn't until you pointed it out.

Yes, me too :D Full of the best Italian flair and in the 70s and 80s, a bit of reputation for dodgy electrics...

The compact little V50's with shaft drive were a nice stylish package, and much more appealing to me than the contemporary Honda CX 500 which always seemed to be a bit out of proportion.

Ahh, the V50 was awesome :D You're right Neil, the CX500 was a bit on the lardy side. Almost as if it was designed more as a sidecar hauler...

Ouch, your comments on the cx500 hurt. I was crazy about my CX500c. I bought it second hand in 1989 when I turned 18 and still have it to date. Unfortunately not road worthy at the moment. For 2 wheeled motoring I now have an Intruder m1800r.
Having said that, I’ve always liked the v twin Moto Guzzi’s

Pictures please Furriegurrie :-D . if I saw a CX500 on the road/parked up now I would definitely photograph it and have a chat with the owner. At the time they were released the CX500 was out of the ordinary, a quality which I very much like, more so now than back then.

Similarly, there is a blue MZ which is a regular sight round here...I've probably photographed it and put it up somewhere on the forum. Back in the day I would have dismissed them as being totally uncool, but now always thrilled to see one still on the road :-D

Nope, it is my Mazda 6 Takuya with the Taku missing.

Shared the motorway with another this morning that made me think of it.

That was an excellent little test, didnt imagine it would have more than 5 letters in it, anagram solver had me bring up lists ending "uya" or "aya" on 4 and 5 letter words but never stretched it to 6. Pleased you did the reveal, it would still have niggled away to try and solve it :-D
