No cold air - C4 Picasso

Post by Peterpsound »

Hi everyone,
Hoping someone is able to help me.

I have a Citroen C4 Picasso 2012 model.
The air conditioning was great, until around December.
In December, the vent system flooded due to the panel under the windscreen clogging up. Since then, the air conditioning doesn’t blow cold air.
We’ve had it regassed - they said they tried it twice. They checked the pressure and it was holding pressure. So said it was likely a sensor somewhere. But the cost just to look wasn’t in our budget at that time.

I’ve checked the Fuses and they all seem to be fine!

Not really sure where to try next. Is it worth trying one of those app diagnostics things? Or does someone know what sensors/things to check first?

Thanks for your help!

It sounds like you have found your issue - water ingress into the system - which could of done untold damage. This is the weather to get it dries out though - directly facing the sun with all vents open to try and dry out anything. I assume the blower motor is working and that you are getting air normal cool (unconditioned air) and hot air out of the vents and that the direction of the air control is working (screen, middle vents and floor)?

Hiya,
Yeah, everything else works fine. Just no cold air 😔
So would water in the system still be causing it damage?

We’ve definitely given a good few chances to dry out fully, I would have said, especially like you say, with the recent weather.

I think you may need to get it to a specialist A/C for a proper check of the system components because anything internal is going to be a pig if it's not the air mixer or distribution flaps or the plastic gearing that they operate on. That's why I asked you about whether you are getting hot air as well as cool when you change the temperature settings - as that would rule out the air mixing flaps controls.

Is the outside temperature display working ok - as in the outside temp being displayed on the instrument panel and commensurate with the actual temperature outside?

Is the compressor clutch engaging a few seconds after the engine is started?

If you can get the fault codes read for the A/C ,BSI and engine, there is likely a good clue about the fault. Some faults in any of those ECUs will disable the A/C, even if there is no fault of the A/C itself.

The outside temperature display works fine.

No, the compressor doesn’t appear to engage.

Yeah, I know someone that can get hooked up and see if there are any fault codes. And will then look at getting someone involved.

Just didn’t want to do that if it could have been an easy fix 😔
