Post number 2 from me on V-day is a threadstarter from yours truly.

What do you get if you put "Venom" into an FCF search. Mostly posts by me of what I consider to be the finest name for a car/bike.
An easy to contribute to thread with your own suggestions.
Car/bike Names what are the best? worst?

NewcastleFalcon wrote: 24 Jan 2018, 21:13 Yes its been Clio day today for me, but where did the name come from and is it any good?

If you are well up on Greek Mythology maybe Clio means something, or if you are familiar with the works of Carlo Franzoni you may well make the connection to his "Car of History" sculpture in the US Capitol. In general though its a fairly meaningless word which conveys little about what has been a very successful car.

Thinking on fron that VW's little successes, the Golf and the Polo probably also fit into the pretty meaningless category. You may expect that the Polo would be slightly more exclusive than the Golf in a literal sense comparing the two sports, and neither sport conveys much about the characteristics of the car.

So in traditional FCF off-topic fashion we have to dig into the world of Motorcycles for my best ever name...

The Velocette Venom! No there's no way on earth that could be a "commuter bike" and its definitely going to be a bit of a wild thing!

Go on what names do you like?, what are hideously boring? and where did the manufacturers dig them up from?

Is there a Vicks Vapour (probably shortened to Vapor! no doubt) Rub, lurking anywhere in anyone's cupboard, or a packet of Victory "V's" in a drawer.

I can do one of those from the same place. Unfortunately the label has long since gone but devotees will recognise the V in the lid: :-D

Plenty cars to choose from on the V front to bring some original photographic content to the thread on this day, with "V-Day" shutter clicks .

Very easy with the ubiquitous VW, Volvo and Vauxhall to a fairly rare Vanden Plas, or Vel-Statis or anything with a V6 or less likely V4 V8 V12 badge. Any sort of walk or car park visit with a photographic device will produce a potential picture. On the bike front quite unlikely to see a Velocette, Vincent, or Vespa, on V-Day.

This was on U-Day. A simple example of should I or shouldn't I, I don't really care much for VW's but its a nice-ish colour...apparently I did take a photo of it...obviously seeing as it was taken on U-Day no added kudos :-D

Forgot about our own reliable old workhorse from a few years back. Happily ticked over the 200,000 mile mark.

Scratching my head for a (non-vehicular) "V"...

How about a Vine - this one's in the Daintree rainforest.

You probably have a jar of genuine Vegemite in your store cupboards Alec! Photos of the mundane are equally welcome!

In 1974 the VIP brand disappeared as ELF Petroleum bought the company out and absorbed the fleet and retail outlets to operate under its own brand name.

Excellent, that’s the sort of thing the FCF thrives on, random creativity :)

Can’t really tell but one of the U’s. I forgot to put up yesterday was Uranium Glass which is a bit like your selected vase. It is a thing, and often found in Antiques emporia.

The V-element

On seamlessly to periodic table elements, There is at least one Indeed there is only one, which will be most likely stamped on your socket set or spanner’s. Time for more strange behaviour to baffle your loved ones.

Make a still-life arrangement which. Includes clearly the V element name on something from your toolbox, alongside a background of your choice artistically created with your own fair hands. Armidillo points the way with his vase. Take a photo and post it up here.
